What type of Music? What type guitar?. for acoustics used bronze strings, for electrics use nickel. The heavier the gauge, the harder to finger, but too light & they break too easy.I tend 2 use a top of about 12/13 on acoustic & 10/11 on electric. I've been playing guitar about 45 years now - folk & rock'n'roll & leading Worship. Hope this helps.

Your question suggests to me that it not an expensive Gibson you own, otherwise you know exactly to buy expensive strings.

Just go for bargain strings on the Internet and enjoy playing
