I belong to a christian family. All my family members believe in God. I also want to believe but find it difficult. I need more proof than books and words to know God is really there. What should I do? Am I wrong not to have faith in God?

Well, I would say- no, you're not wrong at all because faith is something which is beyond your control & it happens spontaneously on it's own that's- sometimes when God puts it there in our hearts & other times when we decide to put our trust in God. So we can't really create or destroy it because according to christian perspective Bible does say that faith itself is a gift from God and is not something of our own creation or achievement that we could be proud or boastful of. So if you really want to believe in God then I think all you've to do is just to pray & ask God to reveal himself to you beyond words and books. And I believe he is capable of doing that & also he will do so in his own appointed time & ways. It may just happen like a feeling or an insight or through some miracles but it will happen & until then I guess you just have to wait & keep asking. Because God is such an omnipresent reality that I doubt anything could ever contain him- man made things like books and words are too small for that. So I guess you definitely need more proof here as a sound foundation for your faith because books and words & other documents can only give us some insights to God and his character but they could never replace or contain God or be God for us...

So many Christians rely on arguments to prove God. But you know what? That is not really where the proof is. The proof for God is in the love of Christ, not in arguments. You are not wrong for doubt. Many Christians do not seem to be living out the love of Christ. Be patient. I believe that God loves you, and that you will experience this love. That will be your proof.

You know what? I was there, about 20 years ago. The thing is; you seem to want to know him. That's a really good sign because you cannot want to know him, unless he is leading you to him. That's what Jesus said.

So . . . chosen one. Tell God that you've been wanting to get to know him. That's what I did. But you may want to be sitting down when you do that. I was actually leaning on the bed or something like that.

Also know this:
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Find a great Bible teacher, okay? You have to hear it, and I found that reading out loud is valid to this promise that God made to us. He is trustworthy, he's been saying that for some time now. So trust him for it.

Here is a good Bible Teacher:

Almighty God is the one who created you from your mother and father. Is the one who created the world, the big sky above the massive earth under you the air, the seas, the animals and all the creatures. Do you think all of those mentioned have just came into existance without any one created them.

Almighty God is the one who will one day take your life and you cannot stop him taking out of your body yet you wonder who is God.

Please read the following;
The Nature of Allah

1 Say: He is Allah the One and Only; 6296 6297
2 Allah the Eternal Absolute; 6298
3 He begetteth not nor is He begotten; 6299
4 And there is none like unto Him. 6300

6296 The nature of Allah is here indicated to us in a few words, such as we can understand. The qualities of Allah are described in numerous places elsewhere, e.g., in lix. 22-24, lxii. 1, and ii. 255. Here we are specially taught to avoid the pitfalls into which men and nations have fallen at various times in trying to understand Allah. The first thing we have to note is that His nature is so sublime, so far beyond our limited conceptions, that the best way in which we can realise Him is to feel that He is a Personality, "He", and not a mere abstract conception of philosophy. He is near us; He cares for us; we owe our existence to Him. Secondly, He is the One and Only God, the Only One to Whom worship is due; all other things or beings that we can think of are His creatures and in no way comparable to Him. Thirdly, He is Eternal, without beginning or end, Absolute, not limited by time or place or circumstance, the Reality. Fourthly, we must not think of Him as having a son or a father, for that would be to import animal qualities into our conception of Him. Fifthly, He is not like any other person or thing that we know or can imagine: His qualities and nature are unique. (112.1)

6297 This is to negative the idea of Polytheism, a system in which people believe in gods many and lords many. Such a system is opposed to our truest and profoundest conceptions of life. For Unity in Design, Unity in the fundamental facts of existence, proclaim the Unity of the Maker. (112.1)

6298 Samad is difficult to translate by one word. I have used two, "Eternal" and "Absolute". The latter implies: (1) that absolute existence can only be predicated of Him; all other existence is temporal or conditional; (2) that He is dependent on no person or things, but all persons or things are dependent on Him, thus negativing the idea of gods and goddesses who ate and drank, wrangled and plotted, depended on the gifts of worshippers, etc. (112.2)

6299 This is to negative the Christian idea of the godhead, "the Father", "the only-begotten Son" etc. (112.3)

6300 This sums up the whole argument and warns us specially against Anthropomorphism, the tendency to conceive of Allah after our own pattern, an insidious tendency that creeps in at all times and among all peoples. (112.4)

May God bless u

One has to believe in God because God exists. You see the evidence in your surroundings, your daily life, in the universe, the galaxy, stars and the planets, the oceans and the rivers, mountains and the forests.. and the list goes on. Can you imagine all this was created on its own ? Unbelievable. Still if you believe everything in this universe is no body's creation then you should also believe that a cellular phone was self created in an arabian desert where there was oil and sand (silica) both together. Oil gave the polymer casing and the sand gave the silicon chip... voila!

Belief in God

• Belief in God's existence. The existence of man and the entire universe is not a mere accident or the product of chance. This universe and everything that is in it points to the realization of a Creator.

• Belief that God is the Creator, the Sustainer, the Owner of the Universe and its contents, the provider of everything, the Giver of life and the Causer of death.

• Belief that God is the only One who has the right to be worshipped.

• Belief that God created beings and provided for them out of His Love and Mercy.

• Belief that there is nothing like God and that He is nothing like any of His creations.

• Belief that God's descriptions and attributes are unique to Him and that He is as He described Himself in a manner that suits his perfection only truly known by Him.

2. Belief in the Angels

Angles are creatures created from light by God for specific functions in Heavens, Hell, and the Universe. We cannot see them and they have no free will. They do as God commands them. They are not to be worshipped as they are simply creations as we are.

Angel Gabriel, who is known as the Holy Spirit, was responsible for conveying the revelation to the Prophets. Two Angels are assigned to every human being to record their good and evil deeds. Another Angel accompanies each human being encouraging him/her to do good deeds. Others blow the human spirit into the fetus when it reaches the end of the fourth month and others take the human spirit at the time of its death by God's permission. There are other angels that have other responsibilities too many to enumerate in this simple introduction.

Start with what you need the most. What would that be? Why is having faith in God important to you? Keep digging. The better questions you ask, the better the answers will be.

I wouldn't say wrong just lack of faith. In order to believe, you have to have faith and we either acept or reject truth and live a lie on earth. Being worldly is nothing but a lie that Satan promises us, just as he did Jesuson the Mount. The word of God is Truth, Jesus is the word of God. We have fre will either to serve God or Satan. I choose truth.

What you should actually do is that you should let Him rule over you. You need to know that He is life and love and anything outside him is death.
Heard about faith without works is dead? Know that all He wants from you is to offer your heart and He will do the rest. The works you will do after giving your heart to Him will be those done by Him. Don't try to do anything yourself. Just give Him your beign. If you try to do works yourself, you will be bored at the end. We are saved by grace alone. It is only grace that makes us have life.
May God give you the wisdom to understand what I've written.
