Something that they knew was indisputable, would they destroy it, if they had the chance, before anyone got wind of it, and still cling to their faith?

Would they deny its existence?

Or would they share it with the world and renounce their faith?

Destroy it, no question.

But then again, even faced with the most incontrovertible proof, would any Christians really renounce their faith?

In my experience, people don't renounce their faith on evidentary based decisions, but a slow awakening and freedom of the soul-an idea.

Sometimes such freedom and such hatred for the deceit of indoctrination itself can cause people to lose themselves. Then again, it can help start a whole new perspective.

Christianity will not be defeated by steel, by gold, nor fact, but by the humble and relentless tide of spiritual awareness. And an idea is much harder to defeat than proof.

If that christian had integrity of any kind they would not destroy it. They would either reject the evidence or accept it and then go about there life as best they saw fit. If they are not integrified and they reject it they would probably destroy it yes. And not all christians have the same level of integrity so it really depends on what christian finds this evidence. But I highly doubt your gona find proff of any kind that is 100% let alone a proved thing on a spiritual belief. I mean what exactly would this evidence be can you even give an example? Anything u say could be forged most likely. Unless it was a booming voice from the heavens and let me tell you as a schizophrenic I have learned not to totaly trust even booming voices from the sky. Basicaly you couldnt do what you want without taking away the free will of the christian in theory...

There's no such thing!

The Bible is God's Word and He is also It's Guardian. It is His Revelation of Himself to mankind.

Humanity down through the ages have been trying to do this. And the Christian faith is still going strong today.

The Lions dens couldnt stop it. The Burning at the steaks couldnt stop it. And all that Constantine the Great could do was cause it to flee to the hills, and started living in caves and catocombs, until to Reformation.

And then it started to spread again, like a wildfire on the Western Planes.

I just love those "If ......" scenarios. The answer is not known.

But should we be surprised by such (infantile ) questions? Or propositions, for that matter? Here is Charles Darwin himself :

"To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of Spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.....Reason tells me, that if numerous gradations from a simple and imperfect eye to one complex and perfect can be shown to exist, each grade being useful to its possessor, as is certain the case; if further, the eye ever varies and the variations be inherited, as is likewise certainly the case; and if such variations should be useful to any animal under changing conditions of life, then the difficulty of believing that a perfect and complex eye could be formed by natural selection, should not be considered as subversive of the theory."

We can excuse Darwin for his ignorance : he didn't know about the eyes of the trilobites, said trilobites found near the lowest strata of the Geologic Column, said eyes being much more complex than eyes of animals found at much higher strata.

It has already been done and it is called The Apocryphon of John. The christian church did everything within its' power to destroy it. Failing that, they are doing a great job of ignoring it so it does not come to people's attention. This one text destroys all of the fundamental doctrines of traditional christianity. Be smart, read the authorized version of creation and reject the god of Moses.

Maybe not destroyed but locked away so that it will never again see the light of day.

I'm sure many years ago when the bible was created by that group of early roman catholic officials that had some scrolls which were not included in that book and were hidden away in their vaults and have never been brought forth.

Christians have destroyed a lot of things throughout the ages. They burned the Mayan Codices, imprisoned Galileo, recently secreted documents that called the "holiness of its priests into question you name it.
