My old car has been sitting for a couple of years. I'm about done fixing it and need to get tags and inspection done. But can't find the copy of the title to take down to the tax office and get the registration...... Will they have a copy???

Get your VIN number off the car, take it to the title place and it should come up on the computer that you are the owner of the car pay the fee for lost title and the will send it in the mail. You may have to pay a penalty for the car not being registered for awhile, but you will be able to get a registration and tags

You can apply for a duplicate TX title in person or by mail. Check out the link below to the TX Dot page. It has detailed instructions on how to replace your title and what you need to do so.
