All rock really came from the blues. Back in the day...they would not allow the black performers on tv..etc. So they would get white performers to redo the songs. This happened for years. Elvis was a blues fan..and he was a real artist with soul. But so many others were a joke..they had no business trying to do the blues. They had no pitch...stucture..etc. But more than that they did not have the soul..or the life..Blues is all about life..making bad good..through music!!!
Nothing like the blues...funny called blues..but makes me feel so damn good!! Johnny Winter has a song about that!

simple 1-4-5 blues tune. Great lyrics by Leiber and Stoller for Elvis. The king loved the blues, he was known as big fan of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. That white boy had some soul!

The theme of being in jail is a lot more prevelent in blues and country songs than in pop music. Middle class white people didn't sing about themselves being incarcerated. too much.

Jailhouse Rock demonstrates the common experiences that poor blacks and poor whitres have in our society. Also, how they make the best of it. (Having a party in the jailhouse).
