I use Purina One. I think its very healthy and all its products are US grown--which is how it was never on the recall list.

I mean of course the most nutritional thing you could possibly feed the puppy is something you make yourself. Many breeders do this and have recipes for the right blend of nutrients. Often dry foods need additional supplements if you dog has special needs.

I would avoid all wet food. It is not as good for them. However--your puppy won't be on puppy food too much longer. Around a year they start to switch to adult--so if you are going to be changing soon--you might want to go ahead and start blending.

Why are you going to change your puppy's food at this stage anyway? It is important to stay with the same general food--if you have your dog on lamb based, don't switch to chicken or beef. If you are switching b/c your puppy doesn't seem to be liking it, consider that perhaps that is what he doesn't like. If you are worried about not getting the nutritional needs being met, consult your vet. You may just be overconcerned. Maltipoos are small dogs and he doesn't eat that much food. If it is eatting 1/2 cup a day, it's probably fine.
