You need to fix it & pay for it yourself because you didn't buy comprehensive (other than collision) coverage. In the US that is the coverage that covers hitting animals. You can't legally drive with a broken windshield. Good news though, they are not that expensive (if you have a standard windshield which you probably do since you probably have an older car if you have liability only). When you call the glass shop, tell them you are not using insurance to pay for it. They will give you a better price (yes, they charge the insurance companies MORE for the same windshield).
Good luck. It may be worth it next time to keep the other than collision coverage on your car to pay for these types of things. Call your insurance company & ask for a quote. It won't help you for this incident but broken windshields happen all the time & they are pretty common.

Depends, did the deer have coverage, and was it his fault? LOLOL!!!
Sorry but liability insurance is not insurance on your car, in any way, shape, or form. It is coverage for damage you do to other persons and their property. Check the price of a new windshield (my old car had an $850 windshield). Shop for used glass at a wrecker's and find an auto glass shop that will install for you. Make your choice, and do it because your car cannot be driven with a smashed windshield.

Unless you were hurt, don't bother turning in a claim because it will not be covered. It will only raise your renewal rates. If you want to have coverage for something like this, you should put comprehensive, or other than collision coverage on your vehicle. It covers things like window damage, if a tree falls on your vehicle, vandalism, theft, and yes, if you hit a deer. Depending on your car, it is usually a pretty reasonably priced coverage.

Unless the deer was driving a car, you have to pay for it yourself.
Deer hits are considered to be comprehensive claims, and since you only bought liability, you're out of luck.

You ONLY have liability CORRECT? and NOw you would like to know what you can do about hitting a deer with your car.....
I can only assume that he wants someone to buy him a new car....not report accident....so that auto insurance wont go so high.

Everyone is right. No coverage. if you can't afford collision coverage, maybe just consider comprehensive coverage. if you had comprehensive coverage, this would have been covered. Comprehensive coverage protects you against deer, falling objects, & everything else that isn't a collision.

Your insurance only covers damage to other people and their property. In your case, it only covers the deer. No use in reporting it.
Sorry about the damage to your car, but the repair bill is on you.

Sue the deer.
haha.. well duh.. its not covered... you choose to get the cheapest insurance and what you saved in rates kinda screws you over in a sitaution like this.
You have no choice but to cover repairs on your own. I mean seriously.. who else would you go after?
