God is loving, forgiving, he is our father in Heaven who loves us so much more than we could ever love our own children. so I would not shove one of my children in a place of tortue why would God? I do believe yes there is a place of torment, a deep dark place that you put yourself depending on your state of mind when you die. or a place of rest after you die, but you are not stuck there forever. I have read the bible, studied it very well, and have found a few mistakes yes. thats normal considering human who make mistakes all the time, translated it. over and over again. we are made in Gods image, yet the bible says jealousy is a sin, yet it also says that our God is a very jealouse God? does that make God a hypocrite? I think not, I think humans made a mistake somewhere. And I will never believe that he will torture his children.

I understand what you are saying completly, there is alot in the bible that my heart does not believe to be true, such as only 14,000 (I do not know the facts) being let into heaven. Human errors are everywhere in the bible and because God did not write the bible I do not have complete faith in it. To me the bible is a story that may have truths but is not the only truth (each of us are made in God's image and we are all different and ever changing so considering each persons different abilities and God awarded philosophical thoughts human's are too complex to fit into a single set of ideals - knowing that God is far more grand and brilliant than human it is only logical that there would be no way that God so grand could be described in a book written by his inferiors. The bible is good in the sense that it speaks of many stories with great moral outcomes that guides us and helps us to understand life and be guided. However the bible is self authenticating and does not allow for any human who believes in it to add their own (being a part of God) perspctive and share their own stories that may offer other's more understanding, if the human's who wrote the bible had the authority to do so then (as all humans are equal in God's eyes) so does any modern day human with God's good intentions in their heart. The bible is but a text to be studied like any other I do not believe it ha any power over one's meditations on life that arise from a strong relationship to God himself. I want to learn and discuss this more and believe rhetorics to be the best way so if anyone is interested I can be contacted by email. I want to hear everyone's opinions for I believe that God is so brilliant and powerful he was unable to understand himself so he placed a small part of himself and his wisdom in every human thus the only way to understand God is to be at peace with all creatures, to respect and listen to their opinions for we are each a small piece of the puzzle that is our Lord

If you limit God to the literal personification that you attribute, probably. But I will tell you God is the creator, he is everything.
So now we're torturing children as opposed to the (as original) drowning babies?

I left home at 17 and my poor Mother begged me not to,she could do nothing to prevent it and it was my free will choice, God cannot force us to love Him again it is our choice, Heaven is the final home of all who love God and one another and you really do choose to belong there or not.

Ever wonder why Catholic's baptise their children? Because it is assurance theyll make it to heaven--especialy since babies are at the mercy of illness and death. Also GOD said children who dont know what sin is, are innocent (but its good to get baptised anyway). That answers you question.
