Dear Charles,
Our heavenly Father knows exactly what we need and exactly when we need it.
I've gotten some answers to prayer before I even finished praying while other prayers have seeminly been unanswered for many years. I know that my prayers are heard and I know that I can trust God to do what is right so I do not lose hope.
After all diamonds take a lots of years in the making.

It's a way of sugarcoating the fact that prayers don't work, they are a superstition. Kind of like how Christians answer "God works in mysterious ways" whenever they can't answer a contradictory or otherwise unjustifiable question.

Because God's timetable is not the same as ours. We see today. He sees years down the line. He understands the future better than we do.

God wants to see how patient you are. Its almost having a credit card, spending money on it, meanwhile the creditors are deciding wether to add more credit to your account, in hopes that youll sucessfully pay it back. Once you pay it, then your blessings will be fruitful. SOMETHING like that :)

because He has this weird sense of humor. Can you imagine if everyone's prayers were perfectly answered?
I think the world would have been annihilated 10X's over if it was so. "OH, God! please help me get rid of that person who maligned me!"
"Oh, God! Please put a plague of a thousand locusts on my enemy!"
"Oh God! This feels so good!" etc...
