some ppl say dont pump before serving and to do it after and some say its ok to pump right before u serve... also, some ppl say its ok to pump while pouring and some say dont do it... whats the best way to get the least amount of foam while serving?

Pump only when the beer pours slowly. Too much pressure in the keg causes the beer to shoot out the tap too fast, displacing all the CO2 in suspension (in other words: too much foam).

Pumping doesn't cause foam, incorrect temperature does. The most important thing is that you keep the keg at an even temp, out of direct sunlight, and maybe cover it with a blanket.

Plastic cups also cause foaming. If you can, use beer clean glasses.

All the pumping does is force air into the keg to push more beer out.

pump when nessasary, you may have to pump before during or after, after is the perfered. It really depends on how many hands you have on the keg. The best way to keep the foam down is to tilt the cup and do a slow pour down the side and raise the cup slowly to upright as if fills.
