I am not entirely fond of eating tons of fruits and veggies and I don't like to cook. When you go on diets, they tell you to make these extravagant meals, which I wouldn't be able to make. It is also expensive to buy food, and I usually throw a lot of it away because I don't cook it. What can I do? I want to lose weight and eat healthier.

hi there why not just count calories ,this is an easier and effective way all you have to do is cut down your portions but eat what you want within reason, weight watchers is a good one point counting its the same as calorie counting but made easier .it sounds nasty but there is a no points soup its all veg you want to put in it except potato ,veg stock and water boil it up then when you have no points left eat that it tastes ok and really simple to make put in salt and pepper and you can freeze it and heat in microwave so easy for you.

I had the same problem. I love to eat out and I was afraid I could not anymore. Instead, I researched places that had healthy choices. Like at Subway you can get the Subway Club and Baked Lay's. Or at Captain D's you can just opt for the broiled fish instead of fried. At Chick-fil-a the Chargrilled sandwich only has 3 grams of fat. The chicken soup also has three grams of fat, so that is a meal. Also, cut out the soda and heavy juices. Drink your 8 glasses of water a day plus one more for every five pounds you wish to lose. You would be so surprised at how the little things really add up.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
i dont like cooking either - but i can make something simple like toasted pita with grilled chicken, a little skim mozarella and veggies inside -one of my breakfasts and it takes about 5 min to make. also i like old fashioned oatmeal with egg whites and chunks of avocado on top - in microwave also aobut 5 min. you can buy salad mixes in bags, yogurt with toasted whole wheat bread or with peanut butter etc. - there are always options you just have to look for them.
