Holy water is water which has been blessed by a priest, bishop, or deacon for the purpose of baptism or for the blessing of persons, places or things.
Aside from other substances that may be added to the water as it is blessed, holy water is indistinguishable from ordinary water.
There are two rites for blessing holy water: the Great Blessing of Waters which is held on the Feast of Theophany, and the Lesser Blessing of Waters which is conducted according to need during the rest of the year. Both forms are based upon the Rite of Baptism. Certain feast days call for the blessing of Holy Water as part of their liturgical observance.

Just pure water blessed by a priest. A little bit of salt is added to it to keep it fresh. Holy water is used for blessing people and things. We also use it to "purify" ourselves when we enter the Church.
Peace and blessings!
