You assume Jim Jones was a Christian preacher. He wasn't. That's why during one sermon he threw the Bible across the room. Jim Jones' religion was Jim Jones.

To correct another person, the Catholic church didn't do the crusades to find a grail. They entered the crusades after receiving a plea from the Orthodox patriarch in Istanbul who complained that Christians were being attacked and persecuted in that part of the world.

Please! Don't think that all Christians are like Jim Jones! Jim Jones was a cult leader and in my Book a mass murderer! Thank-God many people were able to break away from his spell and leave his church "The Peoples Temple" I think was the name, before they ended up dead! The deaths of those 900 people was a terrible thing! Terrible indeed!

"Why is it that many former Christians strengthen into atheist after examining the bible?" i might ought to declare a great component to it relatively is the church homes' fault, as maximum church homes by no ability prepare the "troublesome" areas of the Bible, so whilst a individual gets to a form of areas and sees that's extremely distinctive from the "sugar lined God" that they are taught approximately they have an inclination to reject the Bible and Christianity because of the fact they think of "how can God be loving, yet do all those issues". "Or, that some human beings, whilst attempting to locate data and help for the claims interior the bible, strengthen into atheist." i haven't heard of that for the period of the previous, besides the shown fact that I relatively have heard the alternative going on... (i.e. C.S. Lewis) "would not it look that examining the bible might deliver one closer with God?" with appropriate examining it does, the priority is that folk tend to study what's declared yet stay unaware of the info interior the story that the Bible would not point out, case in point the Bible would not talk approximately how Baal (the "greatest" God interior the area that the Israelites had conquered) became into worshiped via putting a stay toddler on a heated statue (truly cooking it alive) as a sacrifice

Jim Jones may have called himself a Christian preacher ... but he was a self centered cult leader. Amazing how many "servers of Christ" come to that end isn't it?

I'm not a religious person, but if Jim Jones was a Christian, then I'm Aqualung or Uriah Heep.

I'm not a Christian, but I love Jesus and like a lot of Christian teachings. I am appalled by Jim Jones, and I think he does not deserve the title "Christian" because he definitely was not following Christ or God, but his own selfish and delusional mind.
