What number setting should you select on your toaster for the perfect piece of toast?

Experiment. Set the toaster to some setting and toast some bread. If it is not right turn it up or down. You will find the right setting. Of coarse if you are not the only one using the toaster you will have to check and be sure it was not changed.

I like my toast a little pale, so I usually go for a 3. I have to check the toaster before I pop my bread in because some of family like it at 5.

I think it would depend on three things:-

1) The make of your toaster.
2) Whether the bread is frozen or fresh.
3) The thickness of the slice.

We usually have thick bread and we have a Morphy Richards toaster. So, if the bread has been frozen, I put it on no. 4. If it's fresh, then it's about no. 3.5.

I have one of these digital count down toaster thingies, for some reason the left is weaker than the right (4slice) But i'd use 6 if i fancy a well done one, and 5 if i can't wait.
6 = 3:20 mins i think

Settings 1-5 on mine are all the same, just warm bread but turn it up to 6 and it burns!!

This question exemplifies sheer stupidity. I couldn't explain it any better. Because of my drug use in the late 80's. I christen myself as the best piece of toast. Apparently we all have the same toasting apparatussssssseeessss. Toast and we shall see retards.....................
