I had a strange dream about a dead own that was in a box. It's eyes were open and it was looking at me. For some reason I reached down to touch one of it's talons and it broke off...I dropped it. At that point I woke up. I know that a dead owl is a sign of a narrow escape from serious illness or death...but can anyone help make anymore sense of this dream?

Thanks

The owl is also associated with spirits which watch people in "darkness". Or they observe your private life and the things you do in secret. These spirits wait for the opportune time you attack when you are totally given over to sinful things. By this owl being in a box and dead it means this spirit longer longer can hurt you and is powerfuless. The talon breaking off represents that this spirit has lost it's grip in your life.

I'm not at all sure I believe a lot about what so many dream books say things represent in a dream, including "narrow escape from serious illness....".

My dreams are fairly straightforward. For example, if I had that dream you had here's the kind of things that would have caused it: Maybe I would have seen a cat that looks like an owl two days earlier. May I would have heard something on television about litter for a cat box. Maybe sometime in my life I could have thought about how when someone is dead they become hard and seem as if they would break if someone moved them. Maybe I would have seen a dead squirrel in the road or heard something that sounded like an owl to my subconcious. Maybe somewhere in the past some aunt had a cat knick-knack that was breakable, and when I saw the cat that had an owl face my mind turned it into an owl in my dream.

Not all dreams mean much of anything. If you don't have "big, important, issues" to deal with your brain just takes a bunch of stuff that's been run by it over the last few days or so, mixes it up with some old things that seemed to be associated, and creates a crazy dream. All it takes for me to include something in a dream is to have heard it on the news or in a television commercial in the last few days, or else to have made some comment to someone about something.

If you have narrowly escaped death or illness you'd probably pretty much know about it. If you didn't then it was such a narrow escape.

Owls:
1. Owls are a symbol pf wisdom, and of hte ability to see a situation in its entirety. Owls are potent dream symbols that act as messangers for information from teh unconcious mind. Pay attention to the behaviour of the owl, and to any other motifs in the dream.
2. An owl can be a symbol of your wise self, and dreaming of them can precede a spark of inner illusion that enables you to see a stiuation in perspective.

Box:
1. Dreaming of a box signifies that you are feeling 'boxed in', or confined. You may be resentfil of limitations that are impoesd on you by teh expectations of others. If you are openin a box, this indicates that you are willing to explore deap emotions or issues.

Death:
1. Death in dreams can be subconcious messages telling you to break free of a situation.
2. New beginnings.
