Maybe your child is just sleeping better.

Children with epilepsy exhibit more behavioral problems, such as inattention, poor concentration, and opposition, than children with other chronic illnesses or normal children(1). The presence of behavioral problems in children with epilepsy has been linked to abnormal sleep patterns and seizure frequency may contribute to approximately 30% of the variation in behavior problems observed in children with epilepsy.(1,2)

I understand how scary it is to have a child with epilepsy. My son started having seizures when he was 21 months old. It took my by complete surprise. I read everything I could about the condition, saw a very good pediatric neurologist, and then I calmed down. I couldn't control it, and I had to accept that. I was very fortunate, though. My son has been seizure free for 5 and a half years now and off of meds for a little over 4 years. They found the cause of his seizures, although it wasn't something that they could do anything about. Plus, alot of times, they never know why. I truly believe we aren't given more than we can handle, and it's your job to let your child grow up feeling loved and happy with who he is. Good luck and God bless.

Depending on how often your child has these seizures, your doctor may not even want to medicate. It depends on how often the seizures are, and if the doctor can determine the cause of the epilepsy as well. Absence seizures (petit mal) are not generally as dangerous as grand mal seizures, where a person may injure themselves physically during the seizure, but still can take a lot out of you. There is a lot of good information on webmd, and your doctor can also help you. Some children may suffer seizures, and for whatever reason, grow out of it.
