From what I understand their are two versions in the bible.. I
One that he hung himself
The other that he busted a gut (basically) and exploded upon the fields...
Mathew 27:5
27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
Acts 1:18-19
(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

Matthew 27:5 says that Judas hanged himself. However, Acts 1:18 states: “Pitching head foremost he noisily burst in his midst and all his intestines were poured out.” Whereas Matthew appears to deal with the mode of the attempted suicide of Judas, Acts describes the results. Viewed together, it appears from the two accounts that Judas tried to hang himself over some cliff, but either the rope or the tree limb broke so that he plunged downward and burst open on the rocks below. Such a possibility is certainly conceivable, in view of the topography around Jerusalem.

Acts 1:16-18
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

You find it in the gospels of the New Testament. Judas took back his 30mpieces of silver, threw them at the Sanhedrin authorities, went out to a field and hanged himself.
The tradgedy here is that had he repented his betrayal he could have become one of the greatest apostles and early leaders of Christianity; after all look at the Job St. Paul got after proudly trying to erradicate Christianity and personally supervising the stoning of St. Stephen.

He hangs himself on a rotten branch or a rotten rope.
The branch breaks or the rope breaks and he falls belly first onto some rocks.
his intestines were spilled out
Jusas did not want the money..he tried to give it back..but it was unlawful for the scribes to take money he had gotten unlawfully...so he threw it into the temple and left to hang himself.
Still the scribes could not take the money so they bought a field for Judas and called it potters field.
At one time he had God's and Jesus' favor. He was entrusted with all their monies.
He was a good apostle for a while but greed took him over.
May we never be tempted that way.

In the gospels -- Judas hung himself and his gut split open with his intestines spilling out. The money he got for the betrayal bought the field he hung himself in -- potter's field.

(Luke 22:3-6) But Satan entered into Judas, the one called Is·car′i·ot, who was numbered among the twelve; 4 and he went off and talked with the chief priests and [temple] captains about the effective way to betray him to them. 5 Well, they rejoiced and agreed to give him silver money. 6 So he consented, and he began to seek a good opportunity to betray him to them without a crowd around.
(Matthew 27:3-5) Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing he had been condemned, felt remorse and turned the thirty silver pieces back to the chief priests and older men, 4 saying: “I sinned when I betrayed righteous blood.” They said: “What is that to us? You must see to that!” 5 So he threw the silver pieces into the temple and withdrew, and went off and hanged himself.

the bible says he hung himself out of remorse and shame.
many people believe that he'll be going to hell. but i think differently.
the myth that we all go to heaven or hell as soon as we die has lasted too long! the Bible actually says that we all go to paradise, no matter what kind of lives we lead while we were alive. this is like a waiting room!
it's only on "judgment day" that we will all be judged on our acts and be sent heavenward or otherwise to hell... however, in paradise, we'll all still have a chance to repent and turn to the true God. however, just as here in real life, even there you'll have everyone who thinks they know better and you won't necessarily have clarity...
back to judas... in my opinion, since he killed himself out of remorse, he would've probably repented in paradise, and is now waiting for judgement day...
