Gee. let me think. Join the military and think you will not have to fight in battle. That is kinda what the military does . If you want to travel the world, get a job save your money and pay for it yourself. I don't want my tax dollar spent on someone like you.

Actually, only 55% or so of all Marines have been to Iraq or Afghanistan. Certain MOS' are simply not needed. However, this does not mean their job is any less important.

Why not join the Peace Corp? The military is obviously not for you. No one wants to fight or kill- but at times, it needs to be done and thankfully, there are men willing to do it.
My husband has 14 yrs in the Army and the countries he's been to, are not usually tourist attractions.
You'll have to find another way to "see the world".

You want to join the Marines but you don't like fighting and killing? No, not all Marines go to Iraq. Do the Marine Corps a favor and become a Scout leader.

Well, all Marines (please capitalize the word) are infantrymen first. Every Marine becomes proficient at shooting, fighting, and surviving because that's the primary job description. You might end up a Marine telephone operator but you will still be able to kick the crap out of an Air Force MP. HooRah!

If you're patient, try learning a foreign language from a country we're friendly with (like Japan) and you'll almost certainly get a station there as a translator.

Yeah. Every single one. Call there office and you get a recording that says "Nobody is here to take your call we are on a camping trip in the desert. Sign up today and you can get here in time to lube up and play volleyball with us just like Goose and Maverick. Yeah they weren't Marines, but this is the bigest beach you've ever seen and we still crank Kenny Loggins just like they do. Come on out!"

The vast majority of Marines have been over to Iraq or Afghanistan for one tour....most for multiple tours. There's no MOS immune from deployment to Iraq. If you are opposed to going over there, I'd recommend another line of work.

Every Marine is a rifleman.

There have been many that have not deployed due to where they are assigned at any particular time.
