When you have a problem and people try to make you feel better by telling you about someone's worse problem. I hate it, it's like am i supposed to take joy in there pain or what? Mostly I just feel like I had no right to ask for help with my own problems then I get mad at myself. My mom would always do that to me.

The problems we face in our life are either those over which we can have control or those beyond our control.Also,no man or woman is an island in this world.therefore,rationality justifies that we take help or assistance from others in dealing with problems, we find difficult to handle ourselves. This is simply poor communication skills. They are not trying to make you feel bad, they just think that this is the way to help by trying to minimise your problems in comparison to someone elses. It is certainly not helpful to you but they are not trying to make you feel bad.
