Don't know that it would be considered funny, but instead of "BORN" I want "SUNRISE" engraved with my birthdate, and for "DIED", I want "SUNSET" with that date. I saw this in a movie once and thought it was neat. Also, since I like to write, I'd like to have a picture of a scroll of paper and a feather pen engraved as well. :)
