(Actually, 2 people died last winter on the Northway because the Adirondack Park Agency wouldn't let cell phone towers be constructed - they want it to be forever wild. They froze to death on a very desolate stretch when their car went off the road, and if the cell had worked, they might have lived. Our new governor talked the APA into letting towers be built. There used to be emergency phones there, but they didn't always work.)
