on a date the girl doesn't expect to have sex what does she think of the guy who has condoms in his glove compartment? or what about if she did plan on it? what do older people think of young people with condoms? what about cashiers when they check you out?

Do you wear your seat belt when you drive because you hope to be in a wreck or because you know that once you hit something it will be a little late? Same deal with rubbers. You aren't necessarily expecting your date to put out, but if passions are aroused as they say...
You aren't going to tell her, "Hold that thought while I run to the drugstore." People get hot and bothered and they have sex. Let's all just grow up and deal with it.

Have the condoms. Use the condoms. If it is a first date and she sees the condoms, she will probably think that all you want is sex. Girls rarely have sex they don't expect - she has thought about it and probably decided before your date!
