I was a reservist for six years, if the regulations have not changed, I thinkl you can miss a certain amount and then you are placed in the IRR (the inactive Reserves) but you will still go with your unit if it is activated. I am not sure if you are given the option to make the drill up, I don't think I ever made up any of the ones I missed, but I did get a counseling statement.

Those other comments are stupid. If you only miss 1 weekend, your platoon sergeant will call you, write you up a counselling statement, and then you will be made to make it up during the month. If you keep missing weekends, you get article 15s and possibly dishonorable discharge.

I am a former U. S. Army Reserves Captain who served during the Vietnam Era. Based on my experience from more than 25 years ago, I can state unequivically that as an U.S. Army (or Navy, etc.) Reservist, you are under the authority of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) . And, under laws established by the UCMJ, you could be deemed as a deserter, or just Absent without leave (AWOL). Depending on the whim of the cammanding officer, the penalties could go from light to severe. The penalties could vary from merely a fine to demotion and in the most severe cases it could result in a demotion in rank or both. In extreme cases, it could possibly result in the offender being incarcerated in a military prison (the brig).

I used to be part of the active duty staff at a Marine Corps Reserve Center in Buffalo NY. When a reservist failed to show up for drill weekend, they are given an unexcused absence. after 3 months of of missed drill weekends, you can be processed for a dishonorable discharge. If you only missed one weekend, just contact your active duty staff. You will be given an opportunity to make the drills up so you can get back to a satisfactory status. Hope this helps.

. If you know in advance you will miss weekend duty, see them and they might work out alternate training dates.
If ,without notice, you are unable to attend and you have a valid excuse, they will need documentation, but you should still call and report off.
If you just don't report because you decide you don't feel like going, you'll learn how Army baseball is played. And, believe me, you knon't want to know.

If you do not SUTA, you will be considered AWOL. Depending on your commander, you may be arrested and put in jail.
If you need to miss, call your squad leader, platoon sgt, whoever is in your chain of command and arrange a SUTA.

UCMJ Punishment can be applied for missing a movement as the worse case scenario. Best case is that you get a counseling statement. Was anyone notified that you would not be there?

You must "make-up" that training weekend, either with your unit or another. Arrangements must be made between yours and the other unit, and be approved by your unit commander.
