It's a term of endearment so I would say that he likes you...btw, is he saying BABYcakes or BABEcakes?

Oh well, generally guys are not going to bother calling you babycakes if they are not into you.
But then again, I refer to everyone as sweetheart and my friend as hotcakes.

That may be a sign that he likes you. Ask him what he meant by it. If he says it's because he likes you, you might consider him. If it just bothers you, tell him politely that you don't like him calling him that.
