It doesn't. The growth is just more noticeable going from 0 length to stubble than the same increase would be it the hair is already, say, a centimeter or more.

The idea that hair grows fast when you shave is a myth - hair grows at the same rate irrespective of whether you shave or not.
When you are cleanly shaved, the next day you see the hair and feel that its growing faster - obvious difference between bare skin and hair .. but since hair growth is only about 0.44 mm per day, you wont find a big difference once hair shows out.

Hair grows fast when you shave because the hair its only cutt at the surface that's why it grows back in 2 or 3 days. When you use Wax the hair is pulled from the roots of the hair follicle therefore the hair will longer to grow back like in 3 weeks or so.

I think it is because your hair follicles have been stimulated by the shaving, causing your hair to grow faster. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

it doesnt grow faster. when you shave a hair, instead of the small original tip of hair coming back out, its the thick part left from the pevious shaving, so it appears that its grown more.
