In my town, other cars are always swirving around a cop avoiding police traffic stops in the middle of the road. This isn't a stupid question, but a common occurence. I am trying to understand if after the dummy has stopped in an unsafe place (in the middle of the road) and the policeman doesn't ask them to move to a safer place. Is that a violation of the police authority to stop traffic and endanger others? They can write an additional ticket but when they are sitting in a busy 2 lane highway doing all of there checking and cars are backed up trying to get around, I want to know if this is legal.

When the police identify the need to pull a vehicle over, they will wait until they believe it is safe, and there is a place for the vehicle to pull to the right and stop without endangering the police officer who will be out in the traffic. Once they identify an area where they will be safe, they will turn on there emergency lights to indicate to the driver that they must pull over to the right and stop.
If the driver does not pull over, but instead stops in another position, the officer will treat it as an additional violation for which the driver can receive a citation. In any case, the officer has the right to stop any vehicle which is on the public roadway, and for which the officer has probable cause to stop and question the driver.

The idiot driving the car being pulled over is supposed to pull to the right and get off the road. If they don't, the officer is required to protect them by parking behind and slightly into traffic. However, I have never seen a traffic stop in the middle of the road. Only disabled vehicles.

A cop can pull you over at any time.
It is your responsibility to get to the side of the road so that you don't obstruct traffic, or cause an accident. You could receive another citation for your ignorance if you stop in the middle of the road.
Don't stop in the middle of the road, don't pull to the left — the right side of the road is the safest place for both you and the cop. Go there.

The police don't pull cars over in the middle of the road. In fact upon seeing a violation, they will wait until there is a clear pull over spot before lighting the car up most of the time. It is then up to the driver to pull to the right and stop in a safe area, and remain in the vehicle with his hands on the wheel in plain view until told what to do by the officer who stopped you.
If some driver stops immediately in the middle of road when lit up, he will be told to pull to the right and stop via the public address system, and probably receive a citation for unsafe operation of the vehicle for stopping in the middle of the road.
Your question really makes very little sense. It's up to the person being stopped to stop in a safe area. I suppose in a felony stop they might block a vehicle in and stop them in the middle of the road, but those occasions would be rare.

Yes, otherwise people speeding etc would always get away, LOLOL!! The illegal part would be a driver stupid enough to actually stop in the middle of the road. Pulling over means pulling over to the side, always has, always will, but idiots and drunks don't always think straight.

Cops don't pull drivers over in the middle of the road. But some dim-bulb drivers do insist on stopping there. I'd wager there's a strong chance that the driver was drunk or otherwise incapacitated.
