What are the chances of making it big as a girl guitarist?

I've been playing for a good while and I want to start a band with my friend, but I'm afraid no one will want to listen because seriously, how many good bands out there have girl guitarists? and I'm not talking Heart or Evanescence or that crap.

I've heard a few girls really rock on the guitar. However, most play first position cowboy chords and sing.

It seems like girl parts would have nothing to do with rocking on the guitar. There is no "discrimination" stopping a girl from tearing it up, so why aren't girls doing it?

There is nothing stopping you as an individual. If you are asking about chances relative to the female population, then your chances are slim.

Those who compare themselves to the population are doomed to be less than they could.

Well I wouldnt get my hopes up that you will be SUPER big, like famous big. I do think that if you work hard and make yourselves well known that you will make a good bit of money doing gigs. Think of it this way: being a FAMOUS musician is like being a professional athlete, and it doent really happent that often. But being a PROFESSIONAL musician is just like being a doctor. You CAN do it if you want it bad enough and you can succeed. So go out there and live your dream!

I seriously don't think it matters to much. Just as long as the band is not entirely girls, thats just pushing it. If you truly want to succeed and are any good, you'll make it.

Sorry, but girl parts do not get in the way of talent. You either have chops or you don't. Put it out there and testify. All it takes is one, and it might as well be yours.
