That's what people thought would happen a hundred years ago, but now that doesn't look like it's going to happen.

We humans are evolving culturally way more so than physically. The "Imagine students saying, "Humans were stupid back then"" scenario is very possible. I personally feel that modern religions today will be studied as mythology in the future. Who knows though?

This is an easy one. If the world gets too hot, we've proven that we can survive it because the "Cradles of Civilization" were in hot, dry areas. If the world gets cold, then we've already proven that we can withstand ice ages, and that's without any "high" technology. If the world gets overpopulated, it will, out of necessity, balance itself out. I don't think we need to worry about surviving the next 100 years. The real question is how to we keep the next 100 years from becoming the next Dark Age.

No, just the evolution of memes. Human physical evolution has been placed on "hold" due to modern conveniences.

Survival of a meme is key. Throughout history, religions tend to be a constant, but few have survived in their original form.

When atheism is applied in a philosophy like secular humanism or skepticism, I think it is superior to other memes. I hope it can provide the rational "evolution" to a more compassionate and technological society.

It becomes truer and truer by the day.More people are questioning thier religion and seek not only logical but reasonable and relevant answers to the purpose of life.Basing it on some almighty humane-like 'God' just isnt cutting it anymore.

Evolution via natural selection has ceased for humans. Our next step will be to evolve in the lab, and yes, atheists will be responsible for this. Theists are far too frightened of the sky fairy to embark on this journey.

Humans were always stupid "back then." As for atheists ringing in the new paradigm, I sure as hell hope so.
