When the people of the country--or at least those that make the decisions--blindly follow any doctrine or philosophy, there is sure to be trouble. It matters not what this doctrine is--be it evangelical Christianity or "religious" atheism (to counter any comments about "religious atheism before they are made, I feel that it takes as much--if not more--faith to believe that there is no higher intelligence than it is to believe that there is a higher being out there--whatever his/her/its name is).
Unfortunately, there is a very strong political movement out there that refers to themselves as "Christian-based" or the "Religious Right"--that fails to understand that our country needs to respect ALL of its members. Any group that professes Christianity yet spits out nothing but hate for other cultures and lifestyles has perverted the religion.
The fact is that Christianity will not be the downfall of our country. It will be those of us Americans who are willing to think freely--whether we refer to ourselves as Christian, Pagan, Atheist or by any other name--who refuse to stand up and be what we are...a majority against that group that defiles their own doctrine...that will cause the fall of this country.

No.
Complacency will be the ultimate downfall of this country.
Religion just inhibits the intelligence of people.
And the first guy who answered is wrong. This country was NOT founded on Christianity.

No. Political correctness will be the downfall of not only America, but eventually the entire civilized world, if left unchecked.

I agree with the first answer. It is the rejection of Christian moral values that is leading the degradation of America. That joined with liberal socialists who we call many of the Democratic party driving to end all things good with this country.

It is possible but not likely at least in the near future. But too succeed in this day and age you must have an open mind and cannot let anything keep you from moving forward.

Actually it sort of will as it promotes conformity and a lack of self reliance. Couple that with a lack of questioning and you have a massive problem. Though, you can't really blame christianity as everyperson has the ability to think for themselves, and their actions are theirs alone.

America could be a model of morality if Christianity would keep to itself.

More like the downfall of humanity since they care nothing of this earth since they have a promised land that they get to go to. Of course they were lied to but that is another topic.
