I'm compiling a list of all the scriptural verses that support Trinitarian doctrine, and comparing them against all of those that support Non-Trinitarianism. So far, my research seems to weigh heavily toward Non-Trinitarianism, so I'm trying to find more verses from the Bible in support of the Trinity.

Please, anyone who believes firmly that God is a Trinity, share with me all the scriptural verses you can that support this doctrine (if you want to just list the references, that's fine; I can look each of them up). You may highlight the ones that you feel provide the strongest evidence for this doctrine.

Thank you.

I would prefer if you only shared those verse which SUPPORT the Trinity. Those who cited references such as the baptism of Jesus, or the Creation, are inadvertently providing references which actually support Non-Trinitarianism.

For example, when Jesus was baptized, three distinct individuals were there: 1) Jesus in the water, 2) the Holy Ghost descending in the form of a dove, and 3) God the Father speaking from the heavens. This does little to convince me that they are one entity.

Likewise, when God said "Let us make man in our image" it implies that he must have been speaking to someone else who assisted with the Creation, namely, the premortal Jesus.

A note to theBerean: If you are really concerned about the salvation of others, and would like to win them over to your way of thinking, you would do well to get off your high horse and avoid insulting them. You really don't know much about me, or how much research I am doing on my own to discover the truth, even though you may think you do. A simple answer to my question would have sufficed. Nevertheless, I thank you for your input.

I wish to add the following, which I received in an email from Anna, because in my opinion it is probably the best set of scriptural references out of the bunch that answers the question at hand. I also think she did a better job with this email than she did with her original answer:

"The Bible teaches that there is only one God. (Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 44:6-8, Isaiah 45:22)

"The Bibles teaches that there is one who is called the Father and is identified as being God. (1 Peter 1:2)

"The Bible teaches that there is one who is called Jesus and is identified as being God. (John 1:1-3&14-18, John 20:28-29, 1 John 1:1-4&5:20, Philippians 2:5-8, Revelation 1:17-18, Revelation 22:12-20)

"The Bible teaches that there is one who is called the Holy Spirit and is identified as being God. (John 14:16-17, John 15:26, John 16:7-15, Acts 5:3-4, Acts 13:2, 1 Corinthians 12:4-18, Hebrews 9:14, Hebrews 10:15-18)"

Isaiah said he saw the Father in Isaiah 6:1-10, and in John 12:35-45 John says Isaiah saw Jesus in all his glory. Jesus HIMSELF points out that if you have seen Him, you have seen the Father. And Acts 28:23-27 says the Holy Ghost said the words!

Mark 1: 1-11 - The Holy Spirit in the Form of a Dove, The Father's Voice and Jesus.

John 14, 15 and 16 - Speaks about the Father - I and the Father are one - then about the Spirit who will come once he has ascended.

Genesis 1, 2 - The reference to let us.... often called the royal we, but the early Church Fathers said this was an indication of the Trinity - then there was the Spirit - ruah, that hovered over the waters and the Logos, the word of God - God said and it was done.

John 1 - Speaks about the Logos - the Word being Jesus.

These are a few any way!

Peace be with you!

Re: Additional Details

I thought I knew what you were asking until I read your additioinal details - when Catholics speak of Trinity, it is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three persons in one God - one could say three aspects of God.

"When Jesus was baptized, three distinct individuals were there: 1) Jesus in the water, 2) the Holy Ghost descending in the form of a dove, and 3) God the Father speaking from the heavens. This does little to convince me that they are one entity."

These were not three distinct individuals - they were the three persons of God, revealed at the same time and at the same place - one time, one place. It seems as if they were seperate, but in fact they work in unison - the "apparent" distinctness of each was only for our benifit - John 14:11 "Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me." Hearing the voice of the father was for our benifit, but the Father was in Jesus and Jesus was in the Father - the Spirit too - He proceeds from the Father eternally - the dove was for our sake - the Spirit was not a dove, the Spirit appeared as a dove - for our sakes, to help us understand! So, they are never distinct individuals, but always one, and present together!

"Likewise, when God said "Let us make man in our image" it implies that he must have been speaking to someone else who assisted with the Creation, namely, the premortal Jesus."

Yes, speaking to Himself, and in Himself is Jesus and the Spirit - we also see the Trinity revealed in the actions of God and so when God spoke, the Word, the Logos, that was the Son, Jesus Christ, with the Father from all ages. The Spirit that hovered over the water, was proceeding from the Father, eternally and so the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are eternally together, working together and one. There is not seperation, individuation or distinct beings. There is not three gods, but one God. Let us.... speaking of the Holy Trinity, God Himself, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen!

I will always support my home team. My first preference is the Kolkata Knight Riders. Doesn't matter who plays for it or who doesn't, it is my home and I feel I must be loyal to it. Then comes RCB because my favourite modern cricketer plays in it, Virat Kohli, But I would never want them to win the trophy because I haaaaattttteeeee their owners. -_- They must lose the semi finals every time. But, I have seen many of my classmates hate KKR for no reason and support teams like RR & RCB and enjoy when KKR loses. Had a huge altercation last night and decided to support only my home team, Virat Kohli & Rahul Dravid. Not their teams. I started supporting RCB as my second team from the first season because they had guys like Dravid & Kumble. BQ: Happened just yesterday. Some guys did start making fun of KKR after the loss but I took it positively and it was however pleasing to see a smile on Dravid's face after the match. Hope this doesn't happpen again cause the next match is KKR v RCB. :P And I support Delhi too since many of my relatives stay there and I visit often, a soft corner, just. Regards.

I've had trouble in accepting this Trinity teaching to be honest & I've done a little research into the origins of it recently.
The scriptures that are cited in the answers above do not prove (in my opinion) that Jesus is God. In fact, some prove the opposite.
I found a site that discusses the origins of the Trinity & it tells you there that -"the Trinity is actually of pagan, philosophical ancestry, and was engrafted onto, and accomodated to, Christian theology."
I'll post the link at the end of my answer.
Sometimes, I think it's difficult for some people to accept that maybe what they believe could be wrong or actually pagan because our beliefs are what make us tick, they have a special place in our heart. We can stubbornly hold onto those beliefs even though we're shown proof of the opposite.
The site also named a book which I hope to get & read called The Two Babylons by Alexander Hyssop. It also tells you that there was no teaching of Trinity in old Testament Judaism.

Well there is a lot of support there. It is not like God has a yahoo answer section in His word. LoL. SO you have to "make sense" of what the word is saying. SUch as the book of John chapter 1 in the beginning was the word and the word was God and the word was made flesh...and as in God the creator it says in John that everything was created thru Him Jn 1:10 He came into the very world He created. Also in the Gospels Jesus says to baptise them in the name of the father, son and the Holy SPirit.

Without the Holy SPirit there is no revelation of Christ and there would be no impartation of the likeness of Christ in other believers, the Holy SPirit is the SPirit of God/Jesus bearing there exact truth, revelation and power. It is the apparatice for all things that are done and have been done thru God. It will not waiver from His exact being. There is nothing the Holy SPirit will do that is not God. They are all one in the same being. Like the 3 forms of H2o, liquid, ice, vapor. Different forms but all the same compound.

2 John 1:7-11 Note the word (both) both means two and not one.
John 16:7 Jesus says if He does not go away that the comforter will not come. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost.
Why would He have to go away if He was the Holy Ghost?
Jesus tells His Apostles to baptize in the name of the Father,Son,and Holt Ghost, Matthew 28:19 , that makes three.

Deuteronomy 6:4 SCHMAH ISRAEL ADONAI ELOHIM ADONAI ECHAD. (Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is 1 God. )
the word ECHAD is the important one. It means "one of united parts". If the JW's and the non-trinitarians were right (an absolute one), the word to replace ECHAD would be YACHAD. But that word isn't there.
God the Father is God.
God the Son is God. He was worshipped and forgave sins.
God the Holy Spirit is God. He is one that can be quenched, lied to in Acts 5 and grieved/disappointed.

Dear Qebakeon,

I stake my eternal life on Jesus being fully man and fully God but instead of giving you lots more Bible verses as others have I'll give you a link that puts the Bible verses for Jesus Christ and Jehovah God side-by-side so you can be both amazed and inspired.

It is called One Truth Exposes a Thousand Lies - Traits Shared Between Jehovah and Jesus at http://www.soulright.com

One person said after looking at it "I'd say that's a suspiciously high number of qualities that Jehovah and Jesus share. And since Jehovah God will not share His glory with anyone (Isaiah 42:8) it seems odd that the two have the same characteristics through and through!

For His glory,
JOYfilled

To Qebakeon,

I'm not about to list thousands of verses. (yes, I said thousands). Because thats how many I would have to list if I wanted to make any kind of list complete. Besides, you already have dozens already listed here in other answers.

So, what I'm going to do is list ONE. Why? Because God only has to say something ONCE for it to be true. By asking for all the verses that folks can find means one of two things about YOU.

Either you're being dishonest in asking the question. By that I mean you already have your mind made up. Or you are just a lazy so & so who doesnt want to do his own research.

(as you can see, I'm not bucking for "Best Answer" here. Though I do fully expect to get "Most Honest Answer".)

If you read my replies to other questions, you will see I'm not shy about speaking my mind, and I dont suffer fools lightly.
And so far you have yet to prove that you're NOT a fool.

We'll see.

As far as the one verse I promised: Take a look at Genisus 1:26-27 This is so obvious I hate to point it out.

God said, "Let Us make man in our Image".
Now most folks stop there. And say something really silly like "well, He was talking about the 'angels' and made man a spirit being. (Like the JW's like to claim).
(just like you do with your "premortal Jesus" remark)

Now thats just peachy. EXCEPT, if you look at verse 1:27 it says that " in the image of GOD He made man."

NOT ANGELS. (get it?)

So "US" made man in "US's image." Which is GODS Image.

Now c'mon, you cant be THAT slow, and I hope to GOD that you're not that dishonest!

Now also, (sorry I lied, I'm gonna give ya three) I'm sure someone already brought it up, but Jesus claimed to be God Almighty with all of the I AM's.
Now if you want to buy into the Watchtower arguments on those texts, then I'm sorry. You're a Fool. You are beyond the reach of God Himself. When God TELLS YOU He's God, and you choose to reject it, then not even He can help you.

As far as the Holy Spirit is concerned, all you have to do is go to Acts Chapter 5 where Peter says that by lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God Himself.

Now there is three. So sue me.

Now like I said, God only has to say something ONCE. If I were you, I would quit messing around with Him and stop playing mind games with His Word.

You can take this personally or not, as you please, I'm just trying to get your silly little soul saved. (like someone took the trouble with ME, when I thought like you).

Re-read Joyfilled & Anna's answers above. They contain enough info for any HONEST sceptic.
Especially look up that link that Joyfilled provides. Its STAGGERING.

Heres hoping I someday see you in heaven. But unless you do something about that chip on your shoulder and start swallowing some pride, I kinda doubt it.

PRIDE has kept more people out of heaven than all of the "fleshly sins" combined.
