Yes, mallards mate for life, however they are also known to have illicit affairs once in a while, on the sly. No kidding. It's been documented.

No, ducks do not always mate for life. Some may but ducks usually do not. Unlike swans which may not take another mate if theirs dies or if seperated. A mallard drake will usually mate with as many hens as he can. He might stay with one hen to raise a brood, might not. Some other diucj
ks are more loyal. Ruddy Shellduck for instance or wood ducks.

No, they don't. You don't normally see mallard drakes sticking around with the duck & ducklings, and I have seen a duck with ducklings getting gang raped by some drakes.
