My younger brother has really long hair and my mom insist that he cut it, saying that hair takes up a lot of nutrition and robs the brain of important nutrition it needs. That sounds ridiculous to me is it true?

It could, but in stark contrast it does not necessarily do so. Suppose that very severe headache's were attributed to the excessive weight of the hair. Such headache's might impair learning and productivity. Suppose that the long hair were caught in machinery. Such an event would be an undesired and preventable hazard. Suppose that an enemy wanted to get hold of a long haired individual. Such long hair would make an additional place to grasp.

No. Long hair does not influence intelligence. Long hair should be worn intelligently however to prevent the dangers/risks described above. It may be advantageous to cut hair. Also, if he is young, then your brother might enjoy peace in the house with his mother. He can likely grow his hair at a later date. Peace in the family is more valuable than hair...in my opinion.

Hair is dead skin cells, and really doesn't take up nutrition. My mom told me coloring my hair caused the dye to go to my brain, and thus the term "dumb blondes." Um, I didn't believe her either.
