I am 32 weeks and have a fever of 100.5. I feel so hot like Im on fire, I have taken Tylenol and the fever does not seem to be decreasing. Is this cause for concern? My grandmother was in the hospital with a heart attack today and I visited her. I think I may have picked something up while I was there. It's midnight here and I did not want to call my doctor if I am just over reacting. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

For all of those who said do not worry my temp temp shot to 102.1 in the middle of the night. When I finally made it to the ER my blood pressure was high, the babys heart rate was raised and I was having contractions five mins apart and found out my sons head was down and he wanted out. I had to spend two days in the hospital trying to stop the contractions and after three shots to stop them they are still coming just not as fast now they are 11 mins apart. So to all of you if you have a fever no matter what it is go to the ER you never know what could be causing it.

****I'm a nurse who worked for an OB***If you visited your G-Ma today, you would not present any symptoms from a viral or bacterial infection this soon. 100.5 is still considered low grade. Keep taking Tylenol and try a TEPID ( warm- not hot) BATH. DO NOT TAKE A COLD OR COOL BATH.It can cause your core temp to drop too quickly and cause big problems. At 32 weeks, your biggest concern is anything that causes intrauterine growth retardation and a fever doesn't. If it is not better by a.m or gets worse thru the night, call the hospital your OB has priveledges ( where u will deliver ) and have them page him to call u.

Well, 100.5 is a low-grade fever. Tylenol also takes time to kick in. Just keep taking it every 4 hours and keep taking your temperature as well. If you still have the fever in the morning, see a doctor.

You need to either call you OB or go to your labor and delivery unit. Ive had to have a lot of tests done at my l and d unit and on my discharge instructions it says to call or come back for a fever of 100.5 or higher. I asked about this and the nurses told me that it indicates infection and they will want to monitor you and your baby to see whats going on.
your doctor gets paid to talk calls in the middle of the night so don't be afraid to call anytime you are concerned!

That's BARELY a fever at all. (A fever is 100.4 or higher.)

You could call your OB's office for reassurance, but if I were you, I'd just sleep a lot, drink a lot of water, and maybe take Tylenol again in 4-6 hours.

Especially this late in your pregnancy, a low-grade fever isn't a huge concern UNLESS you have other symptoms.

If you're worried, you can call the ER and speak to a nurse, they will tell you what you need to do. I'd say just take a cool bath and try to get the fever down that way, if it continues, I'd definately call the ER.

I would say ride it out until the morning and then see how you are feeling. Do what you can to keep yourself cool, like don't lay there with a ton of blankets on you. Drink lots of water. And then give your doc a call in the morning if you still have a fever.

Usually your OB wants to know of any fever over 100.4. It could mean infection and such. Cant you call your local hospital and speak with an OB nurse?

you are overreacting. continue to take the tylenol, drink lots of fluid, and keep yourself cool. if the fever is above 102.9, call the OB. you may have a viral illness and they can last 3-21 days. learn to wash your hands better and more frequently.
