I wonder how many people are really afraid of dying. Or is it fear of the unknown. Or do people really enjoy living?

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

I think for the people who are afraid of dying it is because they have nothing to believe in that gives them assurance of something better to come..as you said the fear of the unknown.. but for those of us who have a knowledge and the faith that there is an eternal life then there is no fear of dying. Now granted maybe most of us don't want to die, but those with faith don't worry about it. You see if you have the faith then there is no unknown.. personally, I enjoy living and intend to be around for a long time to come, but if something unfortunate occurs, I have no fear. Do you? if you do, then email me and I will tell you how to prove to yourself that there is more.

People are afraid of dying due to the fear of the unknown -- whether if the death would be nothingness, or something else. A lot of people enjoy living.

Death inflicts pain once one passes away.

Even though I think that most people enjoy living, I don´t think that is the main reason for fearing death. I would say that, first, it's fear of pain, which is strongly printed in our basic instincts. Also, fear of the unknown, but mostly the need of transcendence... Most men and women need to believe that they are not efimerous; that's why most religions have an afterlife belief, be it a heaven, a reincarnation or other.

People are mostly afraid of the unknown. Unsure of what will happen to them once they die. The religious types start to second guess if there really is a heaven or if they've done any sins in their past that would cast them to hell. They wonder if it will hurt, if they'll suffer in their last moments. Most people pray to die in their sleep, but I've seen many patients suffer unless we basically put them in a morhpine coma to ease it.

If one has sins and is going to Hell, he has reason to fear death. God loves all of us; Christ died on the Cross to save us from condemnation, and qualifying us to Heaven. Just come to Him with genuine repentance and faith. Heaven will be our eternal home. There is no reason to be afraid of death any more. Never, never, miss Heaven for anything in this temporary world. Life is short and uncertain; eternity is so important! If you have faith, "unknown" is known.

People, whether they know it or not, usually enjoy living. There is an embedded primal fear of death, pain and danger within us that will spring into action if you feel threatened.

You put your finger on it. No one knows for sure what happens next. Heaven? Hell? In-between? Nothing? Will it hurt? Is it like sleeping without dreams?

We know what this world is like. The unknown is always scary.

People are afraid of dying, because they don't know what happens when they are dead. It's just human nature to be afraid of what we don't know.
