my husband is an AF officer, I would say if they can find out about it, tell them, if they can't, keep your mouth shut.
We all did things when we were growing up we wished we hadn't why go down for them if no one was hurt?

I am in the Air Force reserve as an E-5, the first air force core value is integrity first...

so its easy to say yes disclose your drug use

If you have been arrested it will show up before you are accepted, if you have not been arrested but later apply for a security clearance it may comeout.

Lying to gain entrance into the military is a felony, once you are in it is punishable under the UCMJ. You could be punished and discharged for fraudulent enlistment.

The Air Force is force shaping and getting smaller, unless you have a technical degree like engineering with an exceptional GPA and are applying for a rated (pilot, WSO) postion...it will be hard to get accepted.

The Army is looking for people, have you considered them?

Part of the application process will be writting an essay on why you want to be a Air Force officer, what it means to you and how you will help the AF...have you thought about that?

Take the initiative and do some research before you use Y!A. We need the Air Force because they have complete air superiority. Where else are you going to have the F-22, F-15, F-16, C-5, AC-130, A-10, B-2, B-1B just to name a few. Have you not heard of Pararescue, the guys who sometimes save SEALs. Literally risking their lives so that "others may live". Or Combat Controllers who are qualified to call in airstrikes as well as set up airfields, these guys are often the first ones in and are often deployed/requested as part of a special ops team with other branches. If America didn't need the Air Force, funding would be cut and thats it, simple. But we do, did you know that the Air Force has the largest space program? Or that we hold the codes to nuclear warheads, more than those the Navy has? Or perhaps that we have more aircraft than all other branches? And that the Air Force performs cyber operations as well as air superiority to secure communications and electronics that keeps America running like clockwork (like your water systems)? So yes, we do. Your question is like asking why do we need Marines when we have Army? Or why do we have the Coast Guard if we have the Navy? Each has it owns capabilities that keeps each others job easier and running smoothly, if one branch was gone, it would create chaos. Navy does have aircraft, but you do know that a carriers main job is to project power in that region, and that the aircraft are meant to weaken certain defenses for the Air Force to wage the war with its specialized craft.

If you have never been arrested and charged with drug usage you would be better off to keep it to yourself because there is little chance of being accepted to OCS if you admit to prior usage of drugs, however if there has been an arrest it will show up on the background check that you will have to go through prior to being accepted for the schooling and that will shoot all chances for getting a security clearance of any kind.

You should do what you feel comfortable with. Recreational use of Marijuana once or twice won't go against you or a security clearance. Any use of Coke will harm both your chance of being accepted to any branch of the service, or service academy. Lying about it and getting caught is worse.

Drug use will almost certainly knock you out of an Officer slot......But do you think you should go to OTS as a former Coke Head??

There are certain things that you might do in life that will come around to haunt you. Admit it and run the risk of not being accepted, don't admit it, run the risk of having them find out and throwing you out.
Take your pick.

Depends on whether it was use or abuse. If you abused drugs and there is a record somewhere---disclose it. If you used casually--keep it to yourself.

NO. There comes a time in your life when you need to think smart and this is one of them. If it has been a long time, just keep it under your hat. You will be punished. May god have mercy on my soul.
