The word that was used for fear is (ary yare’) and is interpreted as an awesome reverence. That is the kind of fear they are talking about. That is the kind of fear most kids have for their father. They look up to them like they are some kind of super-hero.
As to onelm0' it is not us that call ourselves Reverend, it is the institutions that we get our degree that call us Reverend.

There is a difference between fear and reverence.
You are touching on the work of Sigmund Freund. In his analysis the human psychological condition is caused by a rebellion against the father figure. This is what he interpreted with the story of the Jews killing Moses. PBS has done a great series on this. I suggest you take a look at it.

Hebrews 12:7-11
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate children at all. Moreover, we have all had parents who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! Our parents disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Reverence is the type of fear spoken of.
Of course, humans tend to jump the track of logic.
Men call themselves Reverend, a title only applying to God and his Son.

You're trying to get logical answers from illogical people. All you're going to get is copy-and-pasted bible qoutes, right beside "you don't know God," or "those of faith understand" answers.
[Edit] I just now read the first response. I hate saying "I told you so," but...

"Fear of the Lord, is the beginning of wisdom."
In this and similarly worded passages, "The Greek/Hebrew/Aramaic word did not mean fear....but "Respect...Awe".
