Why do a lot of non-Muslims insist on "teaching" Muslims about "real Islam"? Do they really think Muslims don't know squat about their beliefs?

No, they KNOW that non-muslims don't know squat about Islam.
Don't you hate it? I do! Why would I learn about Buddhism from a Hindu?

This is not unique to Islam, but a lot of Muslims don't know squat about Islam. Look at Muslim countries - a good percentage of them have low literacy rates, for one - meaning people cannot read the Qur'an and therefore take others' words for what it says. Additionally, the MAJORITY of Muslims in the world (yes, you read that right) don't speak Arabic fluently, meaning they can't even read the Qur'an in its original language.
Most Muslim converts I've met know more about Islam than born Muslims - what does that tell you?

Non-Muslims often only know about Islam what they see in the media or get from hate sites. They either don't understand Islam or simply refuse to believe the truth about it. Honestly, some Muslims know little about their religion, but that can be said for anybody of any religion. Consider the source, especially when it involves hateful attacks.

I think your distaste is completely justified. Religion - all of em - are vile and stupid!! The idea that theres some invisible man in the sky who cares who you sleep with, what you eat, who you like etc is ******* insane. And all that violence, rape, torture, tribalism does nothing but cause huge rifts between people when there shouldn't be. The fact that you find islam a load of crap has no bearing on what you think of your parents. They buy into that **** but doesn't mean they're not good people worthy of your love. My dad is Christian and he's a lovely person but he doesn't apply critical thinking to this belief system and I suspect deep down he wants to buy it more than he actually does. I welcome you to the world of thinking people who are able to examine ideas, render them absurd and throw them away. We need more people like you!!

Well, there are tons of Christians who don't know squat about Christianity; why shouldn't it be the same for Isalm?
I think that there are lots of people born into faiths who know nothing about it. The people who have real faith though don't get as insulted because they have usually found a bit of peace within themselves.

I dunno who said that..
i know islam from it's sources..koran and sunna (biography)of the prophet(PBUH)..
i was never been taught islam from non-muslims
i dunno when the people will stop saying unpossible spreadings..
