Just want to reinterate please be honest with your doctor if asked about drug use. We aren't the police and we won't get you in trouble...in fact unless it's a very specific case where you are a danger to yourself or others...it is a violation of our professional ethics to disclose your private medical records and that includes drug use.

You never know and you could be giving us some very important information.

To answer your question, as everyone has said, no we can't detect if you smoked marijuana from a chest x-ray.

No. It will not be detected through X-rays, although if there is significant damage to your lungs, the X-rays might show it.

In order to know if someone has recently smoked marijuana, a test will need to be done. It can be discovered in urine for about thirty days, and this is the standard method for testing. It can be discovered in hair, however, for a very long time - if that hair was growing when you smoked, it will show up on the test.

Doctors cannot simply go behind your back, though, to find out if you've taken drugs. Unless the test is ordered by a court, you must consent to the test before they can do it.

If you think that there is possible damage to your lungs because you have smoked marijuana, it is important to tell your doctor this. Doctors will generally ask patients up front if they use any sort of drugs - it is OKAY to tell the doctor if you do. They are not allowed to get you in trouble or even tell anyone about it unless ordered by a court to do so. They may need to know, however, in order to properly diagnose you and make sure you have the correct medication. There is no reason to hide it from the doctor at all.

Be safe!

That little bit that you smoked - probably not going to harm your baby. However it really is not a great Idea, THC does build up in the body and in excess can result in developmental delays, overall inactivity or laziness which can slow weight gain. Marijuana can also decrease milk production. Relax - you made a bad decision, you have certainly learned you lesson and are now away that there are risks associated with marijuana and breastfeeding. No parent is perfect. Don't let all those people telling you that you are a bad parent get to you. You made a poor judgment call, absolutely, however you have learned from it.

The only way to test for the gonja is a blood test or a piss test. Not an xray.
