If you have dark spots (aka hyperpigmentation) left behind by acne, you have a number of ways of getting rid of them.
1) Your dermatologist can prescribe Tretinoin/Tretinoid. This is a topical derivative of Vitamin A and it's effective at diminishing and erasing dark spots.
2) If you book a consultation session with a medical spa, you can get information of Glycolic Peels, Photo Facials, Microdermabrasion and laser resurfacing. Depending on the colour of your complexion, your cosmetic dermatologist or your cosmetic nurse will recommend the best treatment for you.
3) Kojic Acid is also known to reduce hyperpigmentation. Your cosmetic dermatologist can help you there again.
4) There are also other topical products that can help face acne marks and your cosmetic dermatologist can help you there again.
5) A home base exfoliant mask can also help in accelarating skin renewal.
You should be very careful with fading creams that are sold without a prescription because some (many) can cause cancer in the long run. There are some pretty scary storied coming out of the UK about those types of creams.
My best recommendation to you is to consult a dermatologist or cosmetic dermatologist (found in every city in Canada). If you go blindly into trying to fix a situation without proper knowledge, you may end up with a worst case than what you started out with...and you wouldn't want that to happen.

Hey there.
I've been where you are...ar at least where the question comes from.
I went to a dermatologist and he's oneof the best in my city.
Both of my parents and their parents have had problems with acne, pimples and blackmarks. So...with genetics being genetics I was bound to have awful problems too.
This dermatologist told me to use Sastid. It's a soap based on sulfur. I don't know if your pharmacies have but it's really useful. anything based on sulfur is. I know that. I'm studying to be a dermatologist, eventually. (Still in Med School). you can also use Emulbase. It's not a soap but it's better.
As for blackmarks: try not to touch your face much while your hands are dirty. The constant exposure to bacteria and manhandling of pimples results in purple, dark blackmarks. Don't squeeze pimples, it only hurts your skin!
Tri-Luma is a wonderful cream to put one them. They disappear in a few days, believe me. I used to touch my face, squeeze pimples, but all of that left my face irritated, red and hurt.
The best advice I can give you, though is: go to a dermatologist.
Good luck!
=)

It really depends on the type of skin you have and how bad your acne really is.
If you're looking for a medicinal route, go with Accutane. There can be some heavy side-effects, and it dries your skin to heck, but it seriously killed every blackhead and pimple and redness on my face.
If you're looking for just general all-purpose ways, exfoliation is wonderful. If you go to a store like Sally's Beauty Salon or any skin care store, ask the associate to find you the best facial exfoliant they have. It is almost like sand (but it isn't stuff you'll find in Walmart).
If you wash your face with Clearasil Ultra twice a day, exfoliate once in the morning after washing your face (rub in gentle circles with the exfoliate for 1-3 minutes, and moisturize with a face-only moisturizer, I think you will see a dramatic difference.
To maximize this, I would suggest a mud/clay mask treatment. This is cheap to buy and also at cosmetic stores. After you wash your face and exfoliate it, apply the mud mask to your face and let it dry (usually about ten minutes), then wash it off.
If will dry your face and make your pores smaller, so only use that three times a week: I try for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Typically it is okay to exfoliate daily.

I got this secret from a dermatologist 30 years ago and my skin has been wonderful ever since. People always used to ask me what I used and they were always amazed.
Ivory Soap for washing and Baking soda to exfoliate = the granules are very small, rounded and even so they will not damage pores
Listerine (original) mouthwash - either full strength or diluted for pimples after cleansing, before moisturizer - works amazingly well and the smell usually dissipates in about 20 minutes or so. It also works wonders on the white heads on the arms.
Cheap and superior to almost anything else on the market - over th counter or prescription.

There are harsh acne remedies available that show results after a long period. You have to find the severe acne remedies suitable for you, while minimizing the risk of permanent damage.
Cleaning your skin frequently and keeping it free of dirt and oil is the most important remedy. Wash the skin many times a day with soap and water, hydrogen peroxide or special cleansers. This will keep away all the toxins from the skin, as they can aggravate the problem.

okay, one DON'T PICK 'EM! Two, try to eat less fried and greasy foods, like french fries and potato chips. For me, personally that was hard to do!! So you may want to try a good astringent, like Beore or Noxema, followed by cocoa butter, or a cold cream. Also summer is here and the heat makes it worse so wear sunscreen, drink a lot of water, not sugary drinks, and wear a headband if you do any type of exercise that makes you sweat.! This is coming from my own dermatologist. Hope this info helps a bit....one other thing she told me that helps is an active s-e-x life. Hey, whatever works, right?! So get to it!!!!

If u don't have medicated treatments (can get from Walmart) try a few of these -
1. crush an asprin and press the bitts gentaly on wet face (can be annoying)
2. to hide a zit try using visene on it to reduce redness
3. use epsom salt - acts as natural mask - add water to it and put on face - wait a few minutes and wash off (can be messy)

use a towel and soak it in hot water which will open your pores and clean them out... then use a towel again but a really cold one this time this prevents from any other bacteria or dirt to cause more pimples... also if you have black heads i especially around your nose or chin put plenty of hot water on that and at your local pharmacy you can get a blemish remover and squeeze them all out and then add cold water... hope this helps!! good luck!!

if its a bad case you can get a topical ointment from your doctor. just tell your doctor you have had acne for a while and you dont like it, and they can get you a REALLY good working ointment.
or do a home remedy
water+oatmeal mix it and put it on your face for 45 minutes
or
baking soda and water and put that on your face for 5-10 minutes
all of this works REALLY good.. and it clears up your skin alot :)

You can go to a dermatologist. Or you could buy a cream for face-washing which has oxygen (oxide) in it coz pimples and blackheads hate oxygen. trust me, i asked them. Hehe. But its true
