How many leave days are allowed when a soldier comes back from a 15 month deployment? Does it all depend on how many days they earned and do they subtract mid tour leave from total amount of days earned? I am just curious...trying to plan a vacation with my soldier!

If anyone is familiar with mypay does it show the total amount of days earned up to date? How do I read it?

30 days of leave per year. Since he was gone for 15 months, and if he didn't take leave during that time, he should be entitled to 37 and a half days of leave. You accrue leave time at the rate of 2.5 days per month.

for the Navy, there is a 30 day stand down period after returning from deployment, but typically they allow only 2 weeks to be used as actual Leave. the other 2 weeks, they will either be duty section only, or work half days.

I have seldom seen anyone in any Branch be given permission to take more than 2 weeks at a time, regardless of how many days they have on the books.

Like many people stated above, it depends of course on the amount of leave they have accrued (saved up) and it is up to the command once they get back and have the "readjustment" time. I wouldn't plan anything set in stone until you know for sure. Basically don't purchase anything that you cant change dates for just in case plans change you know...maybe you can ask your soldier conspicuously if you are planning a surprise OR contact the Rear Det. commander for info. the FRG Leader may not necessarily know all the details.

the soldier is also earning 1 extra day of leave per month for every month past 12 months deployment. They just approved this a couple months ago

It's in part based on his accumulated leave. Sometimes they give administrative leave (so-called "basket leave") but you can't plan on that in advance. Also, they will sometimes allow a soldier to go negative in his balance if he has enough time left in service to make it up. All you can plan on is his only having two weeks unless someone tells you different.

If you are not married to him, you can still get some information from the wive's representative on base. In the nave we called her the Ombudsman. Every deploying unit has someone like that. She can probably help you.

Military personal get 30 days a year and they are allowed to roll over some. So what ever your soldier has saved will be what he is eligible for IF he gets approved for it.

He might receive free leave, up to 14 days when he returns, but it's at the commanders discretion. And he'll have to stay in the area and might have to go in and report, then get to go right back home. These days wouldn't show up on his LES, as they are just given to him.

mypay does show you how many days leave you hve saved and how many use/lose you have.
My husband will get 15 days "free" and then he can take as much as 45 days of chargable leave, if he has that many saved up.

He will have to request leave and on that form he will have to put the dates he wants off. As long as he has leave time saved up.
