The jesus in the bible is a liberal. He cares about the people and defends their rights as human beings against oppressors. Odd that most Christians are the exact opposite.

I think it would depend on geography.

In the United States he would be considered a plain-speaking, honest, forthright Conservative for the most part.

In the Middle East (then or now) Jesus was and still is considered a dangerous liberal. He spoke to women with respect. He honored them & valued their opinions. He did not think men were more valuable or intelligent than women.
And He never let the holier-than-thou Pharisees get away with cheating people and turning God's house into basically a flea market. He believed in paying Roman tax collectors, but he spoke out against their infringement into and dictation of peoples personal lives.

But make no mistake Jesus can not be dropped into society's standard molds. He was a trailblazer that changed
the course of the world & is still impacting peoples' lives today 2000+ years later.

Definitely Liberal! He said give unto Cesar that which is Cesar's (pay your taxes), but he also walked though a field of grain on the sabbath and ate some, which was against the local laws. He healed the sick and the lame. He befriended/saved the outcast (whores). He had few possessions and stayed with friends. If he were alive today he would most likely advocate national health care and eliminate hunger. Yes - Definitely a Liberal!

shall we see. Walked around with long hair and sandals, in actuality wearing a knitted sack. Liberal hippie. did no longer condone violence or militia action, yet truly preached that we would desire to continually "turn the different cheek" to our enemies. it truly is honestly no longer a fave "Conservative" stance. ought to no longer be that "Liberal" any further the two... yet is honestly greater regular between Libs then Cons. Preached which you mustn't seek for lots wealth and riches. A rich guy is greater in all threat to bypass interior the direction of the attention of a needle than get to Heaven, i've got self belief he taught. Republicans are greater the "vast business enterprise" and the "shrink the taxes on the wealthy" social gathering. So this could be greater of a Liberal than a Conservative stance, additionally. Jesus replaced right into a Liberal - for effective.

Conservative: seeking to conserve something e.g. tradition. Liberal: reason over revealtion, centre over boundary. Maybe? Jesus: did more than conserve tradition it seems he also made it even more radical - forget having sex with another woman - look at her lustfully and you're breaking the commandment. Jesus: was radically reasonable when others were blindly prejudiced: 'stone her! Stone her!!' Nope. Let's think this through, 'which one of you has a place to stand from where you can judge purely and objectively?' Conclusion: Jesus, according to tradition, might have radicalized the faith he found himself in. I'm going for Jesus as a radical!

Well, I don't think Jesus was either. As both liberals and conservatives fall short of God's marker. However, I would say that God would want to promote morals, family values, protection for people not only here in USA but also abroad. If you want to try and see inside the mind of God and His idea of order of earth look at the book of Genesis when God used Noah to call people to repentance because (God) was about to change the social and political course of that generation-so to speak. However, just as we have all the hecklers here against God and His children who speak up against immorality, so were there in the times of the Bible. As you may remember the hecklers in Noah's time didn't quite make the team. But, once the flood was over and God was re-inventing earth you will see how the Gov't was being formed and how morals and righteous living were the primary focus on reorganizing mankind. It is all in there. Read Genesis.

Neither. He is the living Lord and Savior of His people. Any attempt to merge Him into a political movement is dangerous ground. I will grant there can be strands of principles from either group that can line up with what Jesus taught.

Jesus was definitely a liberal. He taught peace, tolerance, love, and respect for fellow men, regardless of their societal standings...

Turn the other cheek, be a good samaritan, let he who is without sin cast the first stone, love thy neighbor as thy self PERIOD....etc.

He was basically an early John Lennon.

Jesus would be flaming liberal.

Blessed are the *peacemakers* for they shall be called children of God

Blessed are the *meak* for they shall inherit the Earth.

Turn the other cheek.

Sticking up for prostitutes, handing out free health care, feeding the hungry. Jesus was a raging liberal.

Some one tell the Bushies.

Jesus was the standard from which all philosophy is derived. He is certainly not liberal in the way that we use it. Liberal these days stands for pornography, homosexuality, abortion and other great evils of our times. Christ would not approve. On the other hand, I believe He would approve of war against godless idol worshipers. God is a jealous God, and He certainly is not Allah. It's a good bet that Christ put Bush in office to contend with the muslim murderers. That would make Him a conservative...along with me.
