I consider myself a devout Christian in many ways. But I really have no trouble whatsoever seeing the Book of Genesis as an allegory, and a very fascinating, telling, and beautiful one at that.

Evolution, as modern day science sees it, is simply the handiwork of God. Think about it: only God could bring into motion the things that evolutionary theory claims happened. God created evolution!

No. There are many good scientific *and* theological reasons that Biblical Creation & Evolution are 100% incompatible. Even Dawkins, the most "devout" Evolutionist in the U.S. doesn't believe the two can or should be mixed. If you really need to listen to man's opinion over & above God's sure Word (Genesis 1-11; Exodus 20), then by all means at least follow Dawkins in that.

Christianity, BTW is not about being "devout" or being "good" (although without a Creator to tell us what's "good" how do we know what's "good" or "bad"). It's about a Savior who came to save humankind from sin, death & the power of the devil.

Tell me, if God used a process that requires suffering & death to "create" (i.e. there was death & suffering before sin), (1) is that a god you want to meet when you die? (2) what's going to happen when he creates a new heavens & earth? (I wouldn't want to be a part of that process) (3)and what logical foundation is there for you to consider suffering & death enemies? If you don't consider suffering & death to be enemies, from what exactly do you need saving? Congratulations you have "evolved" your way out of needing a Savior.

If you do consider them enemies where did they come from? The only acceptable answer is that which comes from God's own mouth in His Word. They entered the world through the original sin of Adam & Eve.

When you try to combine Evolution with God's Word, you commit intellectual *and* theological suicide! Who wants to do that & why?

God did not create Evolution. He created your brain & He expects you to use it. Answers in Genesis will help you with this (www.answersingenesis.org).

No, first of all the bible is infallible, it is the truth, you can't take only the parts you like and discard the rest or the whole thing would be bogus and if that is true than Christ isn't true. Secondly evolution hasn't been proven, it takes more faith to believe in evolution than in God. Have you ever really thought about it? You have this mindless amoeba that realizes without a brain mind you that he needs to grow lungs and a pair of legs. Have you ever had the urge to grow a third arm? It doesn't make sense. God created all things, and man is in His image.

I just had a good Christian friend of mine tell me the same thing. I let him go on and on for an hour or so about the evolution myth, and then recommended a great book, The Case for a Creator, by Lee Stroebel.
Evolution is bunk, most molecular scientists now can tell you that. Stroebel interviews some of the most prominent who now believe in God after seeing the building blocks of life at the atomic level. Evolution could not have produced what they are seeing.
You are probably a Methodist, and pew sit most of the time, calling yourself Christian, but never investigating anything from both sides. You let politics determine your theology. Pro-choice, too, right? Thought so. Read this book, and give God the benefit of the doubt. Try to remember this next time you call yourself a Christian: We are on God's side, not helping the enemy convince non-believers of his lies.

I think you are probably right that there are more Christians who accept the evidence for evolution but are bullied by less well educated Christians into keeping quiet. I was once a young-earth creationist, and having played a part in propagating lies, I am determined to stand up for the truth. I am a Christian, and all the scientific evidence supports evolution. Those who have told you differently have lied to you - not just been misinformed, but have lied. They know how science works, yet they continue to quote and pass on old arguments and claims that have been refuted by scientists countless times. Examine the evidence fairly and make up your own mind!

i think of you will locate maximum Christians have not got a difficulty with evolution. Theistic Evolution (the thought God used evolution as his motor vehicle to hold approximately existence because it is immediately) isn't incompatible with scripture. The Roman Catholic Church represents a million.a million billion Christians, and the expert stance of Catholicism is that God used evolution in this style. it is barely a small team of protestants who have self belief in youthful Earth Creationism. That small team, regardless of the undeniable fact that, is got here upon predominantly in united statesa., somewhat the Bible Belt. exterior of that, you may locate small wallet of youthful Earth Creationists someplace else worldwide huge, however the Christians that stay around them and settle for evolution would be the dominant concept.

I am a strong Christian as well, and I have no trouble believing that God is who He says He is... and that means 6 literal days.

If God is who He says He is, why couldn't He create the sun moon and also stars that are billions of light years away with the light already showing for us to see? Why couldn't He creat a tree instantly from the ground with ripe fruit already on it?

blessings :)

EXACTLY!!!!!

Its hard to find other theist-evolutionist Christian around here. It is my personal opinion that evolution shows just how marvelous and wonderfull the creation of God is!

Still i think the awnser to your question is no. I know many many very well educated Christians (one pHD in physics and ,get this, one graduated Biologist) that simply refuse evolution with all their strenght and belief. I've argued with them about it, still is their choice to deny evolution and i respect it. It is valid to point that their denial bases itself mostly on non scientific arguments.

I have an undergraduate degree in biology and do not believe in evolution as stated in Darwin's theory. I also have two graduate degrees in theology.

The veracity of the evolution theory is no better than alchemy and astrology as science. It takes faith to believe it therefore it is just a religion and not science.

There are no educated Christians who espouse Creationism, at least not educated in Biology.

Educated Christians have the beliefs you do- they accept the spirituality of Christianity, and realize that Genesis is metaphor used to teach concepts, not literal truth.

There are politicians who claim to support Creationism when they realize that evolution occurred- they do it to get the Fundamentalist vote.

BTW- Ignore the morons who say things like "you are picking and choosing" or that you are a hypocrite.

They say these things because they know deep down that they "pick and choose" the Bible while claiming it's infallible- thus true hypocrisy.

Realizing that ancient people did not fully comprehend what they were writing is not hypocritical.

Believing that ancient people's myths literally occurred is moronic.

Saying that is sort of like saying atheists secretly believe in God. I suspect Christians who accept evolution will come out and say as much, unless they're in a really backward part of the country where liberal Christianity is just as bad as atheism.
