Depends what kind of god he is. If he's like the Christian god, I'd rather spend eternity in hell.
And, to the first reply, god is NOT proven.

It doesn't bother me at all if others want to believe that parables and fairy tales are real. If it makes them better people I am all for it. If they believed in some other thing that made them hard to live with I would take issue with that belief.
If some proof was found that there actually is a supreme being, it would not change my life at all. I was raised going to church and I have the morals and ethics that come from that so I am a good person. If god said that I had to act differently and be evil then I would have doubts as to the validity of whom ever found god.
I am not causing any hoopla. By all means do what makes you a good person. If it takes a more rigorous structure to be good then use that structure. What ever works for you, I encourage you to do that.

If religion was provable, it wouldn't be religion. The very principle of all dogmatic religions involve, at the core essence, a firm belief. "Knowing" and "believing" are two very separate things, and thus if God was proven, Christianity would no longer be a religion.
Plus, what most Christians (per-say, Evangelicals) forget is that Christianity is not the only religion in the world. If Christianity was proven as fact, humanity would lose its diversity, which would further lead to catastrophe.
God is best left unproven, for he is a belief, and our beliefs are our own.

it cant be proven. its impossible.
but, on the offhand that somehow it was proven, then i would admit i probably am wrong.
but then, who of all the religions that believe in a single god would be right?
what faith would i have to be?
its the same as the big bang, and evolution. it cant be proven. evolution could be proven, only if we were to evolve.
we dont know how we were made, or what happend in the "begining"
but we do know that we are alive, that this is life, and its real enough for us.

I'm actually more scared of what will happen if God was disproven.
Rational people as yourself will be just fine, but I'm really worried what will happen to the religious fundies who claim all morals come from God. If God were disproven I see people running on the streets randomly shooting others, many suicides, etc.
I don't believe in any gods, but somehow I hope one will be proven. It'll be better for humanity than if gods were disproven.

Which god?
The god that left evidence for a universe, solar system, evolution and life billions of years old..?
The god that only considers one species for the post life eternal orgasm, and only those who are on the correct religious club, while forsaking all other life forms both on Earth and in the universe..?
Get a grip..!!

If God was proven, and I mean actually proven with verifiable intelligent means, I'd think he was a big jerk. All those babies being beaten, kids being molested. You'd think the least he'd do is protect innocent children from this wonderful double edged sword called free will.

If a god had been proven to exist people would lose one of two valuable things, FAITH, because it would be replaced by knowledge, or FREE WILL, which would be replaced with capitulation.

If a deity was proved - and that doesn't necessarily mean the christian one as there are many worshiped deities out there - I would evaluate it and decide whether or not they are worthy for me to worship.
As a pacifist I would never endorse a deity that has used killing for their own vengeance.

I would probably unintentionally breathe a sigh of relief that i wasn't just believing in something that didn't exist, but it wouldn't matter very much to me. I'd still believe in him just as much if not more than usaul
