I will admit that the bill has a few good points, but it is not what Americans want. We don't want to give anyone amnesty. We want the illegals gone and a fence built. The best way is to enforce the present laws and crack down on employers who hire illegal aliens. If they can't get jobs they will leave. No need to round up and deport them.

English is not the official language of the US.
If I ask you if you've stopped taking drugs, does your answer mean you WERE taking drugs? My question presumes that you were. That doesn't make it so.
This line in the bill presumes something which is not true.
Since it is not true, the statement may have no legal standing, as we'll find out the first time it is challenged at the national level.
This is another example among thousands of how our representatives write VERY very sloppy laws.

Note that it doesn't say 'official language' or require that anyone speak it.
It's just some meaningless verbiage to make the Amnesty bill look more like a compromise.

Yeah that is one good thing in about 500 bad things in that bill. If you haven't had the chance to read the whole thing yet, you can read it at http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:s.01348: It is a bit lengthy, but if people dont read it, they wont have good enough arguments to stop it. So read the bill, contact your congressmen, and tell everyone you can about how horrible this bill actually is. Together we may be able to stop this nonsense!

Dr. Gupta has just reported on CNN that thousands of employees of Tyson Foods have been discovered with TB bacteria. Doesn't Tyson Foods employ a lot of illegal aliens? Why are Religious Leaders, Bush and so many Senators are unwilling to send the illegal aliens home to apply for legal status and be checked for these dangerous bugs in their system? So many illegal aliens are handling our foodstuff! Are they being checked to see whether they carry contagious diseases and spreading them through food handling?

No, they are proposing that amendment, and it was in the last year's bill. Now this bill says it is the 'common' language, only.

There is nothing in that bill that ensures enforcement. That is my problem with it.
