Put your thumb on the 'wheel' part and 'spin' it down toward the 'button' right next to it.... in one motion. The wheel causes the spark and when you press that 'button' you are releasing the lighter fluid. The spark plus the button make a flame. I'm just going to say it, though... you shouldn't smoke. Maybe there is a reason you can't figure out how to use a lighter......

I hate to help a tobacco addict to continue. I lost a friend from smoking. However, if you don't have any will power, I suggest you get ever an electric lighter or one that you can just push a button and flame comes out. CAUTION! Make certain the flame is adjusted before striking.

If you are too ignorant to know how to use a lighter, then you are, also, too ignorant to understand that smoking is a horrible addiction that kills millions of people each year. If you don't understand the meaning of death, ask some of your "wonderful friends" to explain that to you!! Stop while you still can, because not only does it hurt you, but it hurts the ones that love you!! So, if not for yourself, stop for them. I lost both parents to smoking related diseases and, let me tell you, it is not a nice way to die!!

All you got to do is use pressure with your thumb and make the sliver piece ignite. Buy a lighter and practice in private. Practice makes prefect. Oh yeah make sure it isn't child proof those are harder to use. But as always quitting is your best option.

lighters are pretty self explanatory how to use, if you can't figure out how to use one by watching your friends then maybe you should just continue to use matches, by the way I am a smoker of over 15 years and I can tell you this, it is quite possibly one of the dumbest things you could possibly do

use the knuckle right below the tip of the finger this way it dosent hurt, push down and roll it down, its ok if it hurts a little, hey u shouldnt smoke though, why deal with probelems like that

wow jessie my suggestion would be to buy a lighter and play with it a little. im pretty sure you would figure it out by the tiume you burn yourself with it haha.

Chip H...I never learned how to use a lighter (not properly nor improperly)...and because I was dumb enough for lighting my own cigarettes, I just never started smoking....I am too stupid to even light one.....DONT START.......
I am 60....still dont lite a cigerrette...and I am smart...
