Yes He Did.
Ole Swervin Irvan also drove The Famous #28 Havoline Thunderbird Vacated By Davey Allisons Death. Which was interesting in the fact that it was Irvan himself who took Davey out of the Race at atlanta that cost allison the Championship. Not Long before Daveys Death.
Jarrett Fielded Ernies #28 car after the Michigan Crash and Upon Ernies Return Jarrett Stayed with Yates and Drove the #88 Havoline Car which would be The Number that Jarrett would win His Championship in.
Ernie also Drove the #36 M&Ms and Also The Skittles Car.
Before His Return to the 28 after the Crash that nearly took his life He drove the Napa Craftsman Truck (#15 I believe) as a prelude to see If he was ready to Race again.
Although Ernies Carrer was never the same after Michigan it was Great to See Him return to Victory in the #28 at Michigan

Well besides the #4 he also drove the #38 and # 28 cars .
He also drove :
5 races in 1987 3 in #6 car and 2 in the #56 car.
in 1988 he drove the #2 car in 17 races;
in 1989 in the #2 car he started 28 events;
in 1990 he drove 3 races for Junie Donlevy in the #90;
in the March 1990 race he took over the #4 car.This ride was until August of 1993.
He then took over the #28 car huntil his near fatal head injury.
Then his history progressed thru the 38 car.
