How can a non-religious person get advice from the Catholic Priest on matters of morality?

While not a totally a religious person my self... my girlfriend is Catholic and I really would like to get advice on confidential matters from the Catholic Church.

What is the best way to go about this... attend confession?

Just get your friend to introduce you to the local priest and then ask him. Make an appointment. Confession would not be the most appropriate forum would be my advice.

You cannot receive Confession if you are not a Catholic. That's besides the point because, if you are looking for information pertaining to Catholic morality, you don't need to receive Confession to get that.

The best advice anyone can give you is - just ask a Catholic priest. You can ask a priest's advice at the conclusion of a mass, call the rectory and talk over the phone, even schedule a confidential meeting between yourself and a priest.

If you are lucky enough to seek the advice from a particularly prolific priest, these meetings may even awaken a deeper interest to learn Catholicism.

Anyone (Catholic or non-Catholic) can call the parish office and make an appointment with a priest.

Unfortunately non-Catholics may not receive legitimately receive any Catholic Sacraments (like Confession) except under extreme circumstances like danger of death.

However a non-Catholic may talk to a priest about any issue in their life without receiving absolution.

The best way is to make a contribution (pay for the advice). Walk up to the priest and offer money for catholic charities or whatever sounds good and then ask him if you can ask a question. After the money has changed hands he will be happy to give advice.

I too was like you when I got married - my gf (wife to be) was catholic and I was not. On the day of the wedding we were in the back of the church (the priest, the best man, and me) we were making small talk but I knew it was time to start the wedding. Finally it came to me and I whispered to the best man "give the priest the money". He gave the priest $40 - the priest quickly tucked it in a pocket sewn in the inside of his robe sleeve and off we went to the marriage alter!!!

Most times you can go to a mass and after the mass you can walk up to a priest and ask them to set up a time you can meet with them to discuss a personal matter with him.

How approximately taking the oath of workplace on the form in case you do no longer have confidence in God? Yes confession is an option but, if it is not a really long drawn out affair she can post her question anonymously on ewtn's website and they will answer it. Tell her to go to the question and answer spot under Faith and within a couple of days she will receive an answer. www.ewtn.com

next time your wife goes to mass you could have her ask the priest to make arrangements. she can give him a little information if you like that way he is aware,more prepared and you will feel more at ease. the other suggestions are also acceptable,confession isn't quite appropiate but you could do it i guess.
