I don't think it will be with north korea but china is a likely candidate. China plays this dangerous game called under cutting everybody. It means that they can sell things so cheap that is not worth even trying. This is what is happening with food ingredients. Most U.S. manufactures cannot compete. Not even selling it at cost. What would happen if china starts undercutting everybody. China becomes strong everybody else become4s poor. If you become poor your infrastructure suffers so, you fight. I mean once China trully awakens they have the potential to become another superpower. That is a treat to anybodys way of life. I mean I'm not saying the U.S.A is all goody two shoes. I'm sure we do things that are rather inmoral all the time but, we try to balance things out. China censors a lot, have different religion, different culture, different work ethics ect ect. It can get ugly when you have a couple of contrasting philosophies. I mean look at the U.S. vs europe. Europe do things slightly different but not by much. They do things similarly so is not a difference from day to night. So, we get along with Europe.
The other thing that can cause WW3 is the fight for resources. As China and India becomes more industrialized the resources available now will have to be subdivided even more. If you think $3 a gallon is expensive wait 10 years from now. Remember there is only so much land, and so much food and so many resources. If we have to start fighting for those resources then its not good. China has a lot of people. A lot.
I mean, all of this can happen regardless of which nation. Right now china and India are it. However, India is kept at bay by pakistan and they kind of like us. China like us because we buy all their cheap plastics but other than that we don't get along. Every time there is an U.N. meeting China is always opposing us. They never agree. Another thing, when I talk in terms of U.S. and China I talk as in the gorverment not the individual. I don't think I met a person who actually hate chinese people. I met people that hate, hispanics, blacks, the poor or whatever but not chinese. But, in terms of government we don't get along.

I doubt we could have a conflict with North Korea that did no longer contain China by some ability. If we attacked N.ok. China ought to be drawn in. The chinese language have a testy relationship with N.ok., yet they are their cheif sponsors. interior the progression of a conflict with China the win/lose element gets exciting. this type of conflict ought to charm to different countries, a WWIII the place everyone loses. China is amazingly cagey and pragmatic. they'd not initiate a conflict until they have been exceedingly particular of victory. If we've been the aggressors, there could first be a loong era of sanctions. throughout that element, China ought to wield this is financial vast stick on us - basically like the US gained the "chilly conflict" with Russia, China ought to maintain the conflict chilly to win interior the top -- economically. They carry very much of our treasury debt you recognize..

north korea doesn't have the money or oil to start a war. they can't even feed their own people. china on the other hand is using hong kong in acquiring cash from their "capitalist experiment." they are building infrastructure, nuclear, hydro and fossil fuel plants for energy, and they are just beginning to tap into their huge natural resources. only a matter of time before they take back taiwan and get involved in any world wide dispute that would bring them land or political clout. it will probably take 20 years just to catch up to us in power and weapons. it's hard to say if we can win a war with china, depends on what kind of allegiance we have, and what allies the chinese will have.

No, China is slowly becoming a capitalist nation on its own, not to mention they have nukes. No two nuclear powers have ever gone to formal war. I North Korea gets a warhead I don't see us going to war with them either.

It depends. If there will be a Bush III or Bush IV who takes the US presidency in the next 20 years, those wars will surely happen.
