Pinch your nose whilst you pull them out of the box and then coat them with jam. You can now let go of your nose (or keep holding onto it if you think the tablets still smell) and swallow. They go down faster cause they're more slippery too but be warned you remember not to chew, the action of putting a food substance in the mouth is enough for some to want to chew on the capsules. Good luck!

Amoxicillin is that way because of the penicillin base. If you notice, all penicillin-based drugs are like that. Grin and bare it. I'm not being rude to you. I've taken enough amoxicillin in my life (and other penicillin-based drugs) to put monetary amount in comparison to the worth of Howard Hughes. By the time you've remedied the taste, you could have it down your throat.

The chemical formula tells why:
7-[2-amino-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-acetyl]amino-3,3-dimethyl-6-oxo-2-thia-5-azabicyclo[
3.2.0]heptane-4-carboxylic acid

The "THIA" is a C-S-C bond, which means stinky

Yes, they are quite smelly.

Hold your nose and swallow them with a large gulp of water, you will get used to it. Alternatively, sniff something really strong (like a piece of fruit) as you take them, then eat the fruit to take that plastic taste away.
