Me and this kid are having an argument about what a wiccan symbol is. He says it is called a Pictogram [what ever it is]. he says it is called that because it has righting in between the spaces. But i say it is called a regular pentagram. also i want to tell him what the elements are but he wont believe me.

pictogram =
1 : an ancient or prehistoric drawing or painting on a rock wall
2 : one of the symbols belonging to a pictorial graphic system
3 : a diagram representing statistical data by pictorial forms

pentagram
: a figure of a 5-pointed star usually made with alternate points connected by a continuous line and used as a magic or occult symbol; also : a similar 6-pointed star (as a Solomon's seal)

You are closer but what you're talking about is a PENTACLE
Wiccan = one point up - power to the people from the spiritual to do good.
Satanic = two points up - power from the people to the spiritual to placate.

A pictogram (also spelled pictogramme) or pictograph is a symbol representing a concept, object, activity, place or event.

A wiccan symbol is called a pentagram, and I've also heard it called a pentacle.

Vertical pentagram: Head, both arms, both feet. Sacrifices, sacrifices, mankind's making sacrifices. WE will not be sacrifices! The Olde Religion really knows how to do up an altar.

If it's the Wiccan star then it's a pentagram, regardless of whether it has writing or not. Any writing on it would either be for ceremonial/traditional purposes or just to look good.

Pictograms are like Chinese characters or Egyptian heiroglyphics. They are symbols that look like a picture but are used for words.

I think he means PENTAgram, the five pointed star. Penta means five in latin.

I think you are right...

"Pictogram" is a general term for things like, say, the hieroglyphs of the ancient Egyptians...not a single specific symbol.
